Hp 3050 error 49 beware spam number 1*800*532*4187

When i switch on the printer i get an error 49 on the printer asking me to switch off and on but the error does not disappear neither can i print, fax or copy. i have checked a number of manuals but still no soln, a friend told me it could be the main board any ideas

On the menu setup and then mover to usb opption. choose full usb (do not choose hight usb) now ii's ok!!!

49 error can occur when the printer receives a corrupt print job and needs to be cleared.

I would suggest you to cold reset the printer, do the following:

1. Press the menu button, then right arrow to Main Menu- Service. Press Enter.
2.Press the right arrow to Service - Restore Defaults, then press Enter.
3.Wait for the printer to initializeand com to ready.

your printer driver is corrupt or the files your printing are corrupt- most 49.xxyy errors are down to software external to the printer. not sure?.
disconnect the printer from all network points and cycle the power - when it is ready perform a path print test ( found under the diagnostics menu on the printer itself ) and you will likely find no errors ( if by some horror of horrors you do get 49.xxyy error then you will need to replace the firmware chip - Very Very unlikely) -
what to do--
remove the printer and uninstall from the workstation - reboot the PC - re install the latest driver for your operating system downloaded from HP website
re connect the printer - print away !!

Hello and Welcome

Error 49 is usually a critical firmware error which cause the processor on the formatter to abort operation.This type of error can be because of invalid print commands,corrupt data,or invalid operations. Sometimes electrical noise in the cable can corrupt data during transmission to the printer. Other causes include poor quality parallel cables or poor connections,
To solve this try this solution step by step:
  • Turn the printer off and then back on.
  • Try printing a job from a different software application. If the job prints, go back to
  • the first application and try printing a different file. If the message appears only with a certain software application or print job, contact the software vendor for assistance.
  • f the message persists with different software applications and print jobs, disconnect all cables to the printer that connect it to the network or PC.
  • Turn the printer off.
  • Remove all memory DIMMs or third-party DIMMs from the printer. (Do not remove the firmware DIMM in slot J1.)
  • Remove all EIO devices from the printer.
  • Turn the printer on.
  • If the error no longer exists, install each DIMM and EIO device one at a time, making sure to turn the printer off and back on as you install each
  • device.
  • Replace a DIMM or EIO device if you determine that it causes the error.
  • Remember to reconnect all cables that connect the printer to the network or computer.
If the error persists, final option is replace the firmware or best & final option is to just contact to any HP service provider
