Battery packs are replaced as a single unit, single cells can't be replaced.

yes - call the manufacturer and order a new pack
go to a good battery shop and have the batteries in the pack replaced with better batteries ( about 1/3 saving on the price of genuine pack)
The pack that you clip on is actually a lot of small batteries connected in series to give the desired voltage

you can try the power system check by doing the following:

To verify the symptom of the problem, power on the computer using each of the following power sources:
1. Remove the battery pack.
2. Connect the power adapter and check that power is supplied.
3. Disconnect the power adapter and install the charged battery pack; then check that power is supplied by
the battery pack.

If you suspect a power problem, see the appropriate power supply check in the following list:

Check the Power Adapter
Unplug the power adapter cable from the computer and measure the output voltage at the plug of the power
adapter cable. See the following figure
1. If the voltage is not correct, replace the power adapter.
2. If the voltage is within the range, do the following:
* Replace the System board.
* If the voltage is not correct, go to the next step.
NOTE: An audible noise from the power adapter does not always indicate a defect.
3. If the power-on indicator does not light up, check the power cord of the power adapter for correct
continuity and installation.
4. If the operational charge does not work, see "Check the Battery Pack"

Pin 1: +19 to +20.5V (Centre pin)
Pin 2: 0V, Ground (Shielding / Surround)


Check the Battery Pack
To check the battery pack, do the following:
From Software:
1. Check out the Power Management in control Panel
2. In Power Meter, confirm that if the parameters shown in the screen for Current Power Source and Total Battery Power Remaining are correct.
3. Repeat the steps 1 and 2, for both battery and adapter.
4. This helps you identify first the problem is on recharging or discharging.

From Hardware:
1. Power off the computer.
2. Remove the battery pack and measure the voltage between battery terminals 1(+) and 6(ground).
(Terminal 1 is closest to the edge, Terminal 6 is closest to centre)
3. If the voltage is still less than 7.5 Vdc after recharging, replace the battery.

To check the battery charge operation, use a discharged battery pack or a battery pack that has less than 50% of the total power remaining when installed in the computer. If the battery status indicator does not light up, remove the battery pack and let it return to room temperature.

Re-install the battery pack.
If the charge indicator still does not light up, replace the battery pack. If the charge indicator still does not light up, replace the DC/DC charger board.

You do not. You will have to replace the entire battery pack. Modern laptop battery packs ave circuits in them that prevent over charging and other nasty habits that batteries used to have. For instructions on removing the battery pack, check HERE. New batteries can be ordered here and here.

you have options other than recondition which may or may not work ,often battery packs die because one or more of the batteries that make up the pack have died the rest are ok ,you can of coarse replace dead batteries in the pack or you can rebuild the battery pack with new batteries of the same type but often of larger ma capacity,with about the same amount of effort ,rebuilding a pack is not hard ,there are plenty of vids on youtube showing how and ebay is a good source of replacement batteries to put into the pack, newer packs are held together with silicon type gue and are easy to pull apart older ones need dremel saw blade sharp knife and need to be reglued when put back together

Try entering the system setup at startup, usually pressing the Delete or F2 key, it may also indicate whick key to press. Once in the setup look for a battery utility. Running the utility, if there is one, will calibrate the battery.
