Go into the NVidia control panel, create a custom resolution (for the ViewSonic VG2021m, you want 1400x1050, 60Hz), and test it. When the test asks you if it looks ok and you click "yes", it *still* is not activated-- it is simply added as one of the resolutions available for the monitor, and goes back to the same setting you had before... so it looks like it didn't work. But then, if you go under "Change resolution", you'll see your new setting is available there. Choose it, and you are good.

check the nature resolution of this LCD. It is 1400 x 1050 resolution.
You need the LCD driver from viewsonic web site. Go download and install.
Make sure your graphics card driver is latest one so can auto detect the LCD res. as well.
Good day.
This is 2006 model year, more likely to have bad caps problem in the power supply, look for caps with leaking/bulging tops first, also look to see if you do have 12~18vdc feeding the inverter circuits.
Hi! there are possible reasons why your monitor shows nothing on your screen...
First, you need to check if the power cable of your monitor is well connected to a wall socket or AVR (and that you are sure there is supply output current on the AVR or in the wall outlet)
IF found that power cable is fix and secure... my suggestion is you bring the monitor to a credible technician...Because the possible reason why only black is seen on your screen, is because the backlight inverter could be busted already.. the backlight inverter which is located on the upper and lower back edge of the monitor is the light source responsible for giving image display of your lcd monitor.. Another reason could be is a deffective high voltage ballast transformer which is responsible for generating high votlage supply for the backlight....
It is too risky for you to do the repair by yourself without proper knowledge and right tools to do this.. So don't waste time consult a technician and or possible avail of the warranty if there is any...
It is the picture picture board on your monitor that is
malfunctioning, since the power led or button is on, but the display
screen goes blank after a few seconds, it means the
picture
board of your monitor has developed fault.
The best thing for you
to
do now is to take the monitor to a local repairer within your vicinity
or any service center
to help with the replacement of the picture board
because the fault is not something you can fix yourself, in order not to
complicate issues.
the probelm u are having mostlickly the backlight is out on your monitrer. thy CAN be replaced but with all the time it takes and money to do them i sugjest just getting a new moniter.
I understand the vg2021m has a 3 year warranty. Phone number for Product Support is (800) 688-6688. Give 'em a call and see if they won't fix it for free or some nominal charge. (OK! So this is the cowards way out.) Orval
