If the CD door on your GPX CD home music system HM38170T won't open, here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
Check for obstructions: Make sure there is nothing blocking the CD door or the area around it. Sometimes small objects or debris can get stuck and prevent the door from opening. If you see any obstructions, carefully remove them.
Power cycle the system: Turn off the system and unplug it from the power source. Wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. Sometimes power cycling can help reset the system and fix any issues.
If the GPX has an headphone output you could use the a stereo headphone jack to two phono cables lead. Connect them to the "aux" socket of the amp, or another suitable - not a phono or deck - socket.
You would have to keep the volume level low on the GPX unit, but apart from that all the functions should work.
The laser pickup head has failed, or the pladder motor that spins the disc is open, or there is no voltage to the motor. Chances are the whole assembly will need to be replaced, but as a rule it is cheaper to replace the stereo.
A home stereo system is not complete without an amplifier which drives the speakers. A preamp cannot drive a speaker. Try to read the labels at the back of the system...if it reads speaker then that is the amplifier output. Would you mind giving us what model is your system?
I sent a note to the manufacturer. Communication attached below.
Dear Customer,
We thank you for your interest in GPX and our products. We apologize, but the volume level on the unit is a factory setting that we are not able to override or alter.
Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Best Regards,
GPX Consumer Service
