Have had a Sony KP 57HW40 for several years now, never had a problem. I just sold it to a friend, and once we delivered it to his house, the TV would not turn on. Now it was very cold out, probably in the low 20s or high teens.
Once we got it in the house, I noticed that (I'm assuming) fog or something similar was on the outside of the screen, as it wiped away when touched by a finger. It was outside in the back of the truck for maybe 30 minutes.
The ride wasn't too bumpy, but since the TV has been moved this way around 5 times, I don't see this as being a new issue, although I could be wrong.
My friend called me back ans said that the TV clicks on, and you can hear the static sound, but no image appears on the screen. He says the standby light flashes several times, but nothing else happens.
The TV was kept in excellent shape and well taken care of. I do not consider the TV to be THAT fragile, but who knows. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks again....

Hi, Image curve, it seems tv got problem with convergence output ICs failure. Do you get off color picture or like 3 pictures in tv screen? Is it Sony KP-57HW40 rear projection tv? Let me know above info to provide you helpful info to solve this issue. Thanks.
the problem is in the internal power supply circuit. another think is if it is old like 2 years then another problem can happen in internal circuit (dry sold).
note: if u don't have any previous idea to work, then please contact with qualified service technician.

ITS PROBABLY THE RED PICTURE TUB (CRT). IT LOOKS EASY TO INSTALL, BUT YOU NEED TO MAKE ADJUSTMENTS TO THE SCREEN ONCE IT IS INSTALLED. THE PART IS $3OO. TRY TO FIND SOMEONE TO INSTALL IT FOR $150 OR LESS. HERE IS A WEBSITE TO HELP YOU MAKE ADJUSTMENT IN THE FUTURE ON YOU OWN. PRIDAH
