GS6NBEXRSOO model whirlpool gold 2005. Freezer ice cold-- fridge isn't. Vacuumed under fridge no dust build up. Compressor hot in back. No ice build up behind freezer panel. Vent between freeezer and fridge not froze up...I'm out of ideas. Happened before but because kids left freezer door open and it was frozen freezer coils--not this time. Help

There is a fan and a damper the blows cold air from freezer to refrigerator compartment. Damper is stuck closed or fan is not working is a good starting point.

i think you have to check to make sure that
the fan inside the freezer is cycling on.
it will be concealed of course but you should
be able to hear it. i replaced one once with
the same symptoms and that fixed fridge
portion of a 2002 or 3 whirlpool. make sure
to listen closely and not mistake it for the
stronger fan motor which operates in
conjunction with and nearby the compressor.

Once ice forms on the freezer coils there is no air flow. I had the same thing. I suspect your defrost cycle is compromised. Could be the bimetal switch, defrost timer or defrost heater element.

ok,when you open the freezer door do you hear the fan blowing?all that happens is the freezer gets cold,a fan in the back wall of the freezer turns on and blows cold air up into the fridge section,a thermostat tells it when it's cold enough or it's getting warm then it will blow more air up top,if the freezer is working correctly then either the fan isn't working or the bottom freezer door was left open,warm air got sucked up into the air vents causing water droplets to be formed,then they freeze blocking the air vents with ice and now the cold air can't go into the fridge section.is there any ice on the ceiling of the freezer or frozen water droplets on the bags in the freezer?if so the door was left open.unplug the maction,and with a hair dryer blow the hot air into the holes on the back panel,keep doing this until you don't see any more water draining through the holes,turn it back on and see if the cold air is blowing up into the fridge.if the evap fan motor is bad the part number is W10128551 and it's around 25 to 30 dollars.you must of got the model number off of the book,it's not the full model number,check in the fridge section on the right hand wall near the ceiling and you should see a tag with the number on it.also down at the bottom kickplate,you can remove the kickplate and there should be a tech sheet tucked away in it,read it and it will tell you how to put the machine into defrost mode,if you can do this,instead of unplugging it if you have to melt it out with the hair dryer you can put it into defrost so the heater will come on and this will help you to defrost the vents quicker.let me know what you find and if you need any more help.good luck with your machine

Clean out the coils at the very bottom of the refrigerator from all of that lint/dust buildup it makes your system inefficient

replace control board on back of unit there is a six by 10 inch cover on back your panel is in there cost aprox 169.00 dollers also replace bo0th thermisters bottem left of freezer looks like a white bullet the other is in fridge behind shelf trim located beside and underneath where the cold air blows into the fridge.

I have Ice build up under the tray in the freezer which makes water run into my refig and makes a mess what would cause this is the evavorator motor out?

check to see if compressor is running if not replace relay also make sure ur condenser motor is running

First thing I would check is the evaporator fan in the freezer to make sure its working. About the copper lines, one should be cold to the touch and the other should be hot. if both are cold your compressor may be locked up. Or if its a whirlpool build unit I would also check to make sure the relay on the ompressor is good.Pull it off the compressor and shake it. If you hear like a lot of little pebles shaking in it its bad and need replacement. that was a common problem with some whirlpool units. If that is good remove the back of the freezer and check the evaporator coils to see if there is a frost pattern on it. If not your compressor like I said may be bad or you have a refrigerant leak and there is no more gas in it. Good luck
