Your ranges for your window settings are more, or less out of bounds with the equation y=2x+23, that you entered.
Press the [green diamond], and the [F2] keys to bring up the graphing coordinates. Enter the following values to fix the graphing coordinates. Starting at the top, xmin= -8, xmax= 8, xscl=1, ymin=0, ymax=40, yscl=1, xres=2. Now, press the [green diamond], and the [F3] keys, and the graph should display.

    Error number 1000- Window variables domain

  • Anonymous Dec 27, 2010

    After entering your equation in the y= editor, go to ZOOM by pressing [F2] [6], this will reset the window to default values. That should keep you from having this error. [Zoom] [A] for ZoomFit is also a great tool to use when graphing when you don't know the dimensions of the graphing window. It may look like a mistake to select the [F3] commented earlier but, it's not. You will still go to the graph. Ti89 titanium users will be selecting a [yellow diamond] on their calculators.

Everytime i try to graph something it comes up with err: archived. how do i fix this?

Something referenced by the function you're trying to graph is archived.

Archived variables are displayed in the memory manual with an asterisk to the left of the variable name. Press 2nd [MEM] 2 1 to see the variables in memory. Use up/down-arrow to move to the archived variable and press ENTER to unarchive it. Repeat as often as necessary.

What is the domain and range of the functions y=2x-3

For y = 2x-3, both range and domain are from -infinity to +infinity. If you wanna read more about it, please open the following link: http://www.intmath.com/functions-and-graphs/2a-domain-and-range.php

I don't remember how to type a piecewise function into the y= screen so that i can specify i want one graph (.5x+5) from 0<x<10 and the other (10+2x) x>10

Here is an absurd example of a piecewise function
Y1=11 for X less than 10
Y1=3 for X in the range [10, 20[
Y1=X+5 for X in the range [20, 30[
Y1=10 for X larger than 30

Here is the screen capture of the Y= editor window.
You have
  1. the definition of the function within a domain, enclosed in () followed by the domain enclosed in ()
  2. a + to introduce the second piece (definition) (domain)
  3. + a third piece (definition ) (domain)
  4. and so on.
  5. Use the [2nd][TEST] key sequence to access the relational operators, less than, greater than, etc.
Here are two screen captures for the Y= editor and the resulting graph. You have to play with the window dimension to display a clear graph. Note : 3 pluses in equation, 4 pieces in graph.
The + in the definition of the function, (X+5) in the third interval does not count towards the number of pieces.

You can use the logical AND operator in the definition of the limits of a domain. See screen capture below.

Won't Graph Exponential Function

Ok, try these two things and you should be just fine.
1.) Check your range for your graph. It is possible that the range you are using isnt large enough to show the curve. Also try using Z-fit vs Z-st. These are options that your calculator will give you once the equation is graphed.
2.) Place a parenthesis around the 2x, make sure that you and the calculator are both using the same order of operations. This move mill ensure that the calculator will multiply the variable, x, by two and then do the exponential.
This should do it!

OR
Press [Diamond][F2:Window][F2][6:ZoomStd] (Zoom Standard) to set all values as above.

Windows variables domain. What does this means? I can't plot my graph.

It means that there's something wrong with your window variables.

Press Diamond F2 to bring up the Window editor and examine the values. Make sure that xmin<xmax, ymin<ymax, and the other values make sense for what you're trying to graph.

Everytime i try and draw a graph it comes up with window variables domain

Hi,
The window variables are not correctly set. Xmin < or = Xmax; Ymin < or = Ymax. Press Apps key, select Window editor. In Window Editor set the values of Xmin, Xmax, Ymin, Y,ax or press F2:Zoom and press 6:ZoomStd.

Hope it helps.
