DEFINATLEY KNOW THE ANSWER TO THISPROBLEM FOR SURE!!! IT IS BECASUE FRO SOME REASON OR ANOTHER THIS CAMERA ISNOT COMPATABLE WITH JUST THE REGULAR AA BATTERIES...YOU NEED TO BUY SPECIAL BATTERIES FOR DIGITAL CAMERAS...EX::LITHIUM, OR RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES (I USE RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES FOR MY CAMERIA DIGIMAX D3...AND TEHY WORK GREAT!! MY CAMERA WORKDS GREAT ALL THE TIME!!) YOU CAN BUY A BATTERY CHARGER THAT COMES WITH 4 RECHARGABLE AA BATTERIES, FOR LIKE $20.00-$22.00, AT WAL-MART. THESE LAST A VERY LONG TIME!! REGULAR ALKALINE BATTERIES CAUSE A PROBLEM IN ALL DIGITAL CAMERAS BECAUSE THEY DONT HAVE ENOUGH JUICE, OR STRENTH IN THEM OR SOMETHING..I DON'T KNOW WHY FOR SURE, BUT I HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM, AND BY BUYING THE RECHARGABLE BATTERIES MADE A BIG DIFFERENCE..IT FIXED THE PROBLEM!!
Well I have had similar problems with this camera model. I tried several types of batteries and changed the battery type settings from the menue too... the problem changed a little bit but it did not solve the issue. I send the camera to Samsung service but got it back with "no fault found".
as I am working in this business I could not believe that a camera like this is not able to make less than 10 pictures with one set of batteries....I gave not up.
here is what I found:
when you open the camera by releasing the little screws from the buddy you will find several connector clips holding flatcables. this clips have not been closed correctly. just close them carefully!!! with a forceps and you will have a nice camera! this work can't be done in hurry...so take your time.
