Scanner My HP 1410 prints and copies but I can't get it to scan a document. I place the document on the glass and hit the scan button. The on/off/resume light flashes a few times and then nothing happens. The document never scans. The feature used to work in the past. Can you please offer me any advice. I really need the scan function for school applications. Thanks in advance! I am really stumped on this.

I'm having a similar problem, only I can't get my computer to register the scanner at all. It keeps shutting of the HP Digital Imaging Monitor program and saying it can't connect to the scanner. I do have Vista. Please help!

I'm not sure if I need to update software. I think I remember getting a message about that awhile ago -- which I ignored, because I didn't have time to insall, etc. etc. We also have a mac, and a Mac Airport which we have our printed connected to wirelessly. I don't know if that is causing the problem in some what, but someone please let me know if they find a way to troubleshoot. Thanks!

Please help me figure out why my Hp PCS 1410v won't scan

You can use Image Zone software which comes with HP PSC 1410. There are problems sometimes getting this to work on Vista.
The other option is to have a program such as Picassa which allows you to import from camera scanner etc.
I have used this succesfully.

SOURCE: Scanner

Check the power and the data (USB) cables in the printer...check both ends...
Check :-
# The printer powers on properly
# There also can be problems with the printer driver
# and also internal printers....
Try reinstalling the printer driver...

I can not scan from my HP Photosmart C7180 All in one. Mac OSX 10.6.8 I can copy, print but not scan.

Launch the OSX system preferences, click on the Print & Scan Icon located in the Hardware row, select your printer in the left hand column, click the Scan button above the right hand box, click on the Open Scanner button, a new window will open, click on the scan button in the upper right hand corner of that new window, set your document on the flat glass panel of your multi function printer/scanner, and click the scan button located in the lower right hand corner of the window, once scanning is complete, your document image should appear in a new window and save the image from there.

Colored lines on a copy page

To fix the colored lines on a copy page do the below steps

  1. Disconnect the power cord, wait five seconds, and then plug it back in. This will reinitialize the unit and force the scanner to calibrate again.
  2. Examine the scanner glass and white scan backing. Clean the scanner glass and scan backing if they are not clean. To clean the scanner glass and scan backing, use a soft cloth towel slightly dampened with clean water.
  3. With the product turned on, open the scanner cover and check the bulb assembly. If the scanner bulb is not lit, the unit must be serviced.
  4. Verify that the alignment page is placed on the scanner glass or in the automatic document feeder (if equipped) correctly. Place the printed side down.
  5. Make a copy of the alignment page. The unit will make a copy even if the alignment message is displayed. Compare the copy to the original. If vertical lines appear in the copy, check to see if the scanner assembly requires cleaning. If cleaning the scanner assembly does not correct the problem, service the product.
