Can't hear my speakers, but i can hear through my headphones

check the speaker connections, if you have a receiver that has front and rear,, switch the speakers to rear to make sure the speakers themselves are working correctly, by allowing the headphones to produce sound its letting you know the outputs for the receiver itself are good , also,, be sure that the speaker selection switch is ON and that its set for the correct speaker selection. (re front or rear or both) and that Mute isn't on

Cant get front left and right speakers to produce sound....when i try to use the receiver remote to turn up the decibals on the front speakers it wont go past "0"...it will go into the negatives...

1. Speaker B instead of A selected??? Page 53.

2. As far as the Fronts limiting to 0 dB, they are the reference for all others. Perhaps the engineers thought it made no sense for the stake in the ground to have a moving reference level. See step 3 on Page 50.

Unable to connect surround sound with a stero player

There is a obvious difficulty here. If you have a stereo receiver then it can't produce surround sound. You must have a surround sound receiver to present true surround sound. If you already do have that then on the back of your Phillips set there are audio outputs. The left and right audio out will be decoded in your surround sound receiver and they will automatically play from your speakers. You should have seven speakers, center channel, left and right front speakers, left and right rear speakers and left and right mid or side speakers. A sub-woofer would be nice too. Best bet is to speak with the store you purchased the set from. They will have that information.

There is no sound going to the rear speakers. Is there a certain mode I need to have the receiver on. If it is not a mode switch, is it a relatively simple fix?

Assuming you do have all 5.1 speakers connected and a digital signal (DVD/CD etc)
Make sure that you have the surround speakers connected into the right spot on the rear of the amp: they can be confusing with their markings.
Front speakers should be in speaker A front.
You must have the sound setting or sound programme on Dolby Digital or similar, Not just stereo. There should be a dial or button on the front panel for this.
Bear in mind that the rears are the only for effect and do not alway produce sound.
Maybe send me more info:

Two of the 5 speakers work on test but not for actual sound

you probably have to set it to multi chanal mode , while tv is most stereo the receiver has to decode that to 5ch
