If you release the IR button it turns off the IR..

Inferred light comes on but can"t see anything the light in side does not come on

In other words, you don't see a green glow in the viewer, hey. IR works, Hunnn ! It could be a number of things but the most common problem with these Russian manufacture binoculars, monoculars, scopes is the image intensifier tube goes south. I said it's the most common but there are other things that can go wrong; such as, broken wire, faulty on/off switch, (here you have one switch for the on/off on the NV monocular while the IR has another switch to turn it on.) I have work on them enough. This is the order faults, image tube with broken wire, faulty switches, none operation ccfl with voltage multiplier
.
There is a lot of variables involved here, how was it handled, has it been dropped been in water/salt water, kids play with the NV devise, wife throw it at you!, it been exposed to bright lights (tried to be used during the day or at night looking a bright lights)---bright lights will destroy the image intensifier tube...

It will come apart unless you have that is manufacture marine environment then this a totally different problem. Take the batterers out first. Unscrew the lens. there could be some screws/nuts behind the front optical lens. This will release the front half from the back half. Now, if is the way to monocular is assembled. But what ever type of NV and how it comes apart. You'll have figure it out first. Don't take the lens apart, these will mess up the focal calibration. Take the parts and put them in order as the come apart. Now take wire markers and mark the wires. Draw a ruff diagram of the printed circuit boards and label the wire with markers on the diagram. This way if wire brake off you'll will know were each wire goes. Also, remember, wires have a beginning and end, they are attached to something on each end. I wish you lots of luck, stewbison

My night vision scope will not turn on. My LEDs work but you can not see anything in the lens. Yes the cap is off. I tried new batteries. It has very few hours of operating time. Help!

Hello, Welcome to the world of Russian night vision system. That is right, Night Owl Optics Cyclops NOCC3 is manufactured in Russian. The biggest problem with these monocular and binoculars and even scope is that they use cheap 1st generation Russian image tubes and everything else. It would be cost prohibitive to have it fixed, that is, if Night Owl Optics will fix it for you. Hint: Auction it on Ebay as night vision parts. Sorry, GB...stewbison

Cannot adjust " 3 -> 'infinity' "

As you probably know by now, you have in your hands a CHEAP russian 1st Gen. NV device and that whatever $$ you paid for it was $$ way too much. The russians make these things for the export (think USA) market from left over 1st Generation junk that did not work well even for THEM. The USA 1st Gen. is to them what our 3rd Gen. is to us.
There is no repair or service centers for this russian NV in the USA. This is a prime example of 'Buyer Beware'. If it looks too good to be true, it's probably junk. Save your $$ and buy American.
Remember that '1stGen(generation) is very OLD NV technology,(this what we used in Viet-Nam in the early'60's, it was like 'rocket science' then, but it was all we had) the picture will be very grainy and fuzzy and the picture will appear to be sorta floating about. Pointing it at a bright light can burn out the element. Yikes! There is NOTHING you can do to adjust this to make it look good. The 2nd Gen. is only a little better, just a little more expensive. The 3rdGen. is much better and you will have a pretty clear picture and happy results. When you see these TV shows where they are using NV, they most likely are using 3rdGen NV. You will spend much more $$ for these units. The 4thGen. NV is the latest and top dog but you will have to hock your car, your dog and give up eating for a long time to afford these units. Go to; www.nightvision4less.com/night_vision_scopes.htm and you will see all four types of NV USA made. I have nothing to do with nor am I associated with this company, I simply give it to you as a reference point in your quest for information about NV products. Good luck :)
