To get the code to enter on your remote to engage multipoint convergence adjustments, you need to contact the rca customer care for that, you get them your model number and they will get your code for you.
To process and save the adjustment made, follow the steps below;
Look through your manual. Your manual will always give you the most
specific directions for your particular model. Look for an "adjusting
convergence" or "set manual convergence" section.
Enter the menu on your TV. Use the remote control and bring up the menu.
Choose "Convergence." This may be under "Picture Settings," "Function" or "Advanced Options."
Select a color. You will have red, green and blue to choose from. Do each one, starting with red.
Press "Enter." A crosshair pattern will appear on your screen.
Adjust vertically. If there is a horizontal red line visible, press the
up or down arrow keys (or channel up or down) to adjust the convergence
until the line is superimposed on the horizontal-center line of the
white crosshair.
Adjust horizontally. If there is a vertical red line visible, press
left or right (or volume up or down) to adjust horizontally. Do this
until the line is superimposed on the vertical line of the white
crosshair.
Save settings. It is important to save your settings when you are done, instead of simply exiting the menu.
I happen to share this same problem. The alignment of the gridlines on the standard convergence panel are completely abnormal, and if I attempt to auto-adjust the TV, it flashes different colors on the sides of the screen , and then turns off the convergence settings.
you have lost the convergence IC`s in your set, this really isn`t a diy repair unless you are very proficient in un-soldering and re-soldering components, once replaced there will be an alignment procedure as well that will require the service manual also, if you have more questions feel free to ask away, video-tek
the green is half controlled by half of each of the convergence Ics meaning green horizontal is controled along with the red and green vertcal is controlled along with the blue Ics. So if you have replaced both Convergencs ICs the problem is most likely a resistor that is in the green circuit. You will need a schematic to locate which resistors are in the green vertical and horizontal convergence circuit
If "colors are not right" means red, green or blue separation = convergence mis-alignment. That repair requires replacement of the convergence IC's, a PCB overhaul.Above average tech ability required...............Do you want step-by- step how to.....?
your convergence amp ic's./if you want to cheat/align the other two colors and manualy move the green yoke rings on the green picture tube neck so the green cross aligns with the red and blue.,they shuold form white when all three are aligned,on top of each other.
Touch-up Convergence adjustments
Enter the Digital Convergence Mode (DCM) by entering 0-6-2-5-9-7-(Status or Index) on the Remote control. The following menu will appear:
Select an active channel or Aux Input. A signal must be applied to the set when performing convergence.
If any Customer Adjustments need to be made, the Menu button can be used to toggle between the Customer Menu and DCM. The MPOSD ADJUST is used to center the Customer Convergence grid. A
highlighted cross will appear along with the Convergence alignment grid. The highlighted cross should be centered onto the center of the Convergence grid.
To perform a Touch Up Convergence, highlight SELECTION and press the right cursor button on the remote. The following menu will appear:
Selections STORE, RESTORE FACTORY, and RESTORE DEFAULT are not shown after selecting
SELECTION. Press the cursor down button on the Remote for these selections to appear. RESTORE
FACTORY loads Convergence defaults from the Factory Loaded section of the Convergence Memory IC.
RESTORE DEFAULT loads Convergence defaults from the sets software.
To perform a Touch-up Convergence:
1. Enter the Convergence Mode and select RED TO GREEN or BLUE TO GREEN. Do not select
GREEN (Green Geometry) without placing a Template over the screen. To perform Green
Geometry, refer to the Complete in-depth Convergence.
2. Use the Cursor buttons on the Remote to Navigate from one adjustment point to another. Press the
Status or Index button on the Remote to select ADJUST. Use the cursor buttons on the Remote to
adjust the Red to Green or Blue to Green. Press the Status or Index button again to navigate to the next adjustment location.
3. After Convergence alignments are complete, press the Menu button on the Remote to return to the SELECTION menu.
4. Highlight the STORE selection and press the right cursor key on the Remote to save changes.
5. Use the GREEN TO RED or GREEN TO BLUE selections to perform convergence when the Green CRT has been replaced.
