I want to put a ring kit in my son's Americn Standard single-handle kitchen faucet, but, I cannot find the set screw that releases the handle so you can get to the washers. I took out the little cover for the hole but I do not see a set screw anywhere. I do see a little nylon clip. What's going on here? /thanks/tom kirk

It was not a solution per se but an encouragement to keep looking for the allen screw. It is so hard to see with water on it that you sometimes think it mysteriously is not there.
Like somebody is playing trick on you.
    Thanks/tk

Hi Tom. Get a set of allen wrenches, insert one after another into the hole until one catches on that allen screw. You could also get a small mirror and a flashlight and look into the hole. I can assure you that there is an allen screw in there. It is just a matter of finding the correct allen wrench and getting it seated into the allen screw.

My bathroom sink faucet has a slow leak. I cannot determine the make or model number. It is a single handle, 11 years old. The cover for the set screw ( on the handle) is red and blue, like American...

delta also uses red and blue,, but its fine, remove the insert and take it to any home improvement store, they will be able to match up the sleeve, if its just a slight drip, you can just replace the bottom washer and faucett seat,, if its a single handle you may have to get the kit that includes the O rings to rebuild it,, be sure and get some plumbers grease when putting it back in,, especially lube the O rings as they usually give out first

Hi, I have a faucet similar to this one and it is leaking from the top. I do not know how to remove the lever to replace whatever it is that may be needed. pls advise

I believe there is a set screw behind the hot and cold symbol on handle. remove symbol to remove set screw for handle. shut off water supply to faucet. after handle is off, then you can remove inside parts. use a pair of pliers to remove retaining ring under handle. then remove faucet spout by pulling it up. replace all bad O rings then put back together. have a good day !!

I have an american standard kitchen faucet, when the handle is half open I get a leak, at home depot where I bought it two years ago, they told me I need to take it apart to see which kit will repair...

The single handled faucets have a valve cartridge which needs to be replaced when it leaks. Disassemble the handle to find the valve inside. Take the valve to the hardware store to be sure you get the right one and reassemble. To disassemble, pop the cap off the lever, unscrew the single screw, then use slip-joint pliers to loosen the retainer nut. lift the cartridge out with pliers taking note of the direction of the notch at the top of the stem. Be sure to reassemble with the notch facing in the same direction. You should replace and lubricate the O-rings when you change the valve cartridge.
Since you have the numbers for that particular faucet, you might want to call around to find the cartridge first. Different models have different valves, so be sure yours is correct.

I have replaced the cartridge on my single faucet single handle moen kitchen tap, but water still leaks out under the central area that holds the cartridge. Is there a schematic that shows where and what...

did you replace the spout, -o- ring's. they would cause a leak to show up there as well.no need to pull cartridge again, just handle, and then pull up spout and that is it. there should be a small packet of lube w/ -o- ring kit, lube up around shaft and new -o- ring's.available at any good hrd ware store

How to replace sprout seal kit?

After you remove the handle, the chrome cap should either snap or spin off.It also may come out with the cartridge... There are 3 screws that hold the cartidge in the faucet...take them out and you should be able carefully work the faucet are off of the core of the faucet. Put a little cooking oil on the o-rings after you install the new ones... just to allow the faucet arm to slide on without damage... Hope this gets you dripless!! Let me know if you have a question. Delta single handle kitchen sink faucet

Tuen the stops off unsder the sink . Remove the alaen screw from the handle. Using a spanner wrinch or a needle nosed pliers spred apart unscrew the large nut that has two slots. Lift the whole assembly out. Take assembly to the plunmbign supply and match ius the kit that youy need with has two new rubber seals and two springs and maybe a new spanner nut. It also comes with the spanner wrench  and allen wrench  needed to renstall. Tip you may be able just to tighten the spanner nut(clockwise) and stop the leak w/o rebuilding it.

How do I take apart a moen 8710 single handle kitchen faucet. There isn't a set screw I think the top might pop off but I'm not sure.

The top pops off and there is a crew under it. It's all pretty easy but when you put it back together you have to do a tricky angle kick with the handle. Watch carefully as you take the handle off and put it on and off several times to see what is needed. If you do it wrong the handle sets on top of the black thing and doesn't work right, The cartridge in the faucet pulls out with difficulty if you have hard water. There is a little clip near the the top that holds the cartridge in. You should be able to get a repair kit that has the cartridge and new O-rings for the spout.
