I've been scanning to my computer w/ my cannon mp240 and suddenly cannot. It still scans and prints and prints from my computer, but the scanning to computer has stopped. I have a MAC and it's worked beautifully until now.

The printer drivers for the MP240 are intergrated in the Mac OS X.
If software for your printer was included with the Mac OS X installation, check the printer manufacturer's website for updated versions. Install a printer driver available from the manufacturer's website only if it is a newer version than the one included with Mac OS X.

Repair disk permissions

Tip
: For more information about Repair Disk Permissions and Mac OS X v10.2, v10.3 or later, see "About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature".

  • Mac OS X v10.3 or later: Open Disk Utility (/Applications/Utilities/). Select your Mac OS X startup volume in the column to the left of the Disk Utility window, then click the Repair Disk Permissions button.
  • Mac OS X v10.2 through 10.2.8: Open Disk Utility (/Applications/Utilities/). Select your Mac OS X startup volume in the column to the left of the Disk Utility window, then click the First Aid tab. Click the Repair Disk Permissions button.
  • Mac OS X v10.1.5: Update to Mac OS X 10.1.5 if you have not already, then use the Repair Privileges Utility. See "Mac OS X: About the Repair Privileges Utility 1.1".

Reset printing system (Mac OS X v10.4 and later)
If other steps haven't helped, you can reset the printing system. Important: This should only be used as a "last resort" when troubleshooting a printing issue.

How do I operate the scanner on a MP240 Cannon Printer?

You have to scan through software, wither the built in windows program (if you have one) or the software that came with the printer, or an aftermarket program like Abbey Fine Reader.

Printer not responding?

Try removing the printer and re installing it. Sometimes computer updates can cause errors.

How can i scan a document on my mp240

download this free OCR program, install it and when you open your scanned image, just click on the OCR button and the scan will be converted to editable text.

Or just click on the MS Word button on the interface, and it will open it in Microsoft Word. In either case, you can re-work the document and re-save it or print it.

Canon Scanner mp240 keeps giving error code 2,155,0 and can not scan

To johnkeys 2008 - I have the exact same problem that you have. In spite of what 2,155,0 says, I know that the machine is connected to my computer because I can print and copy. I just can't scan and it's making me crazy. I hope both of us get a response that works.

My problem begins when I start to scan with my Cannon MP240 printer , the error messages apppear..'Printer is in use or an error has occured. Check Status. Scanner Driver will be closed.' My question is...

scanning has nothing to do with the printing ...so ...in theory it has to scan just fine without ink at all in the printer ...so ..if you have unexpected errors...probably it has something to do with the operating system and the driver ...so ...first remove with the add /remove software ( control panel ) the driver ...and reinstall it clean ..if this would not fix the problem ....you probably have to reinstall the operating system as well cause it has issues that interfere with the accurate function of the scanner /printer

I can't figure out how to scan a document on the Canon MP240..I have read the manual and there's nothing in it about scanning...???

Place the item you want to scan face down on the glass and press the SCAN button

OR

You should go to the support section on the CANNON website and click on she "Drivers and download" tab

Select the file marked MP240 Onscreen manual for either windows or mac (depending on what you have) and download / save it then run the program

This will install the ONSCREEN manual and from there you can navigate to the section on SCANNING

It won't scan unless it's connected to a computer, and has the scan software running. Will it copy a document on the glass?

Scanned photos from my MP240 printer go to my computer but are too small even though I press 'fit to page'. They are saved as .bmp. Would saving as .jpg make them bigger so that I can send for printing? I...

I suspect you are choosing too small of a resolution in the scanning software. The specs from Canon say it will outout a maximum of 1200x2400 which should give you a much bigger image. Look through the manual again specifically looking for how to change the scan resolutions.
