Hi, I have owned the Sansui TV SV2918 for almost seven years now when it recently on it's own while on, started switching itself 'off' then 'on', played for couple of seconds then ultimately couldn't switch on any longer except an idication that it is on. It started a couple of months ago, when in would show on the screen the three seconds time off without being programmed to do so, however I would just deactivate the time-off time ech that showed on the screen, until the recent mishaps. I tried to enquire from some 'expert' who highlighted a potential problem with some 'processor'. Initially I thought it could have been a fuse gone dead and I checked it but it seemed perfect, how do I solve the problem

Have you tried the a / v inputs?? If they work,might be a bad tuner.If they don't work,then your symptom is no video-no audio=
power supply problem? Check all voltages....T.

try this,hang the collector pin of the HOT then try to switch on check the voltage its 115v dc,and check also the oscillation drive at the base of HOT take your VOM at 10v ac,ther must be a flactuate at the pointer.if the two procedure are good.plyback is deffective.but if u dont have any measured voltage at the collector of HOT ur problem is in the power supply. mc44608 is use at all old model philips tv.email me for wat happend

No. You will need the remote. Call the number on the set for an original. You could try your luck with a universal remote. Try a RCA brand. Good Luck!
