This is a indicator of defective LCD screen, the only option is replace the laptop monitor, go to www.ebay.com Type make and model of laptop, refine search to screen to get an idea of pricing.
If you can see the vertical lines during POST, try to check the vertical lines in BIOS. If the vertical lines are there in BIOS, the only thing you can do is to replace your LCD screen.
Are these lines on the screen during the whole boot process? If so then the screen cpu and/or the video cpu has gone bad. Connect an external monitor. If the picture is clear, no lines, then the problem is the LCD screen. If the lines appear on the external monitor during the boot process then the mother board will need replacement.
A line from top to bottom or side to side is a dead or failed pixel sensor. There are hundreds of pixel sensors at the edges of the screen, when one fails it causes a line, the line can be red, blue, white, or black. Unfortunately, there is no way of repairing the line, other that replacing the screen.
Most likely youve damage the lcd screen either by dropping it even though you didnt, but that would be the only cause this problem, line on a lcd screen are usually cause by a broken power current thru screen or a cracked lcd screen maybe it was defective in the first time.
