Make it to stand-by, turn off the i/o switch in the back for 5 seconds, and turned it back on and boot. This may solve the problem. It seem liks a software related issue.May be a new firmware update can totally getrid of the issue..

Every time its gets to 62% is says an error with (8002F997) ive tired the method by swiching the media sever to disable but that didnt work. what eles do i do

Error code "8002F997" means your PS3 is having issues updating your system software directly via internet. As a workaround you'll use external storage media, such as a USB thumb drive, to transfer the software to your PS3

1. Requirements

- A USB cable (not necessary if using a USB thumb drive)
- A PC with Internet access
- Storage media or a USB Mass Storage device such as a USB flash drive

2. Downloading and saving the software

- Plug in your USB drive to your computer, and create a folder on the storage media in which to save the update data. Create a folder named "PS3" on the storage media/USB device. Within the PS3 folder, create a folder named "UPDATE".

- Download the update data from

http://dus01.ps3.update.playstation.net/update/ps3/image/us/2011_0310_91ee193a2fa921a6fce780fc40236e3b/PS3UPDAT.PUP

and save it in the "UPDATE" folder.

Note:

Be sure to save the update data as noted below. If the data is not saved in the correct way, the PS3 will not recognize the update data. The folder name must be in all uppercase letters.

-> Location: Save in the "PS3" folder > "UPDATE" folder
-> File name: Save as file name "PS3UPDAT.PUP".

3. Updating the PS3 software

Note:

Do not turn off the PS3, or remove the USB drive, during the software update!

- Insert the USB drive/storage media into the PS3
- On your PS3, from Home Menu (second icon from the left) -> System Update ->Select [Update via Storage Media].

The system automatically searches for and finds the update data saved on the storage media or USB device.

Ps3 unsupported video format why do I get this error message when I turn my ps3 on.

tkrjka

The reason that you are getting this error is because the video setting on your PS3 got change to something that you TV does not support.
The link below will help you put the PS3 into recovery mode to reset the video. Note you will want to have the AV cable plugged in when you do this.

My PS3 has an error code 8001050F it will play PS2 games and movies but not PS3 games. What is the cause and how to fix

PS3 ERROR CODE 8001050F This error is caused by an issue with the internal clock of your Playstation 3 hardware which causes you to be signed out of the Playstation Network.
What to do:
A bug has caused the internal clock of your Playstation 3 to be set to January 1, 2000.
According to Sony, unless you own a PS3 Slim system, do not use or start your PS3 system until a fix is found, which should be within 24 hours of March 1, 2010.
If you use your PS3 before the fix is released, you may risk losing trophy data and other game data which will not be able to be recovered.
Since the estimated release date has passed, you should update your PS3 system to the latest firmware.
If you already have the latest firmware installed, return the unit to Sony for repair or replacement.
If your PS3 is still under warranty, the repair or replacement will be free. If not, Sony will charge a flat fee of $150.
PS3 Slim systems are not affected.

I get error code 8002f1c0 on my ps3 at 69 percent of installing an update

Quite a few PS3 Owners have got this error while updating their PS3 Firmware

I hope you did not accidentally switch off your PS3 while the upgrade was running.

When you encounter this error while doing the firmware upgrade, you can check removing the Power Cord from the console, it needs to be unplugged for a few minutes (these systems store data when plugged in, and sometimes the data can be faulty). Unplugging it purges the faulty data from the system.

Re-Plug the console and connect it online again and check if the upload progresses or not.

The Second method of installing the upgrade is downloading the update from playstation website, and put it in a pendrive follwing the instructions. Then turn on your PS3 with the pen drive connected to one of the usb doors and let the installation process begin.

If the above two methods are not of any help, please DO NOT power reset your machine frequently as you may damage the PS3 totally.

Call up Sony Customer Support as last resort and send it for repairs if needed.

Good Luck, Wishing you happy Holidays and Happy Gaming

Playstation 3 + ipod

Hey JodGamer,

Two of the most likely reasons why this may be occurring would be if the files you are attempting to play are in formats that the PS3 does not currently recognize, or if they are "locked" by iTunes' DRM protection. Unfortunately, until Sony or another third-party developer chooses to provide support for such files, you may not be able to play them through your PS3.

Please keep in mind that DRM protection generally only applies to files that were purchased and downloaded through a music service, such as iTunes. iTunes Plus files however, do not normally carry DRM protection. As such, they should be able to be played by any MP3-complaint device, much like songs copied directly from a CD.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron
