I suspect you are seeing the Main Menu for the source that you are currently using. Press the Source button (TV/AV on the TV itself) and make sure you are on TV source. The menu will have a set of icons if it is set for analog and a vertical list in digital. Select Setup (use the up/down arrows for digital and the left/right for analog - it's the first one in the list) and click OK. Then select Installation (third one in the list) and then press OK. Next select Automatic channel scan (first one again) and press OK. You will see a warning prompt, highlight Yes and click OK to scan for digital channels. When it is done, it will ask if you want to scan for analog channels.

The manual is available here: http://www.toshiba-om.net/LCD/PDF/English/Country_Specific/KV500-32-English-Specific.pdf (direct link to the pdf)

I hope this helps.

I have a week signal can yu tell me why please

Hi

Assuming your location receives an average signal strength from the transmitter, a weak signal reception, could be due to:
- Wrong location of your aerial.
- Is it obstructed by vegetation or other buildings?
- Is the aerial pointing in the right direction?
Check the internet for your nearest transmitter or repeater station in relation to your location so you can align you aerial properly (one trick is to look at the direction other aerials around you are pointing and follow accordingly)
Have you installed a good quality cable and connectors?
Have you checked the cable is not shorted or damaged in any way?
Do not introduce kinks of more than 90 degrees

If you live in a weak signal area:
Have you installed a high gain multi-channel aerial?

If you install a good quality cable with good quality connectors and aerial you should have no problems receiving digital TV signals.

Hope this helps

you have not said what tv you are using model number have you checked the cable for the aerial. if you have a booster for the aerial you can get a back feed. that would make tv say you have low signal.if you get a low signal the tv can remove channels that are to low and it would need them to be rest. digital signal need a good bite rate to be readed by the tv freeview system board.

We have had a technika tv for a few months and it was working perfectly. However, we can no longer receive any BBC channels - all of the other digi channels are fine. The set is in one of our guest rooms...

I'm unfamiliar with that precise brand, but if you go into the set-up menu then you should first try to re-install the digital channels from scratch.

If that fails, then the fault is with the transmitter or the reception, not the tv. If you know that the transmission is fine, then check how the tv gets the signal from the aerial. Is the aerial pointing in the correct direction? Are there as few in line splitters and joints as possible in the cable from the aerial to the tv? Have all co-axial connectors been fitted correctly? Digital signals are hundreds of times weaker than the old analogue signals, so it doesn't take much to cause reception problems if your equipment has any faults.

I had this problem and searched the internet for hours looking for an answer and was given the initial same reply as this and it does not work. To solve this problem all you simply need to do is press source button on the controller followed by pressing the DTV/USB option. All your digital channels will come back to you and you will find the menu setup options you are looking for!!!

Hi Fiona
Somewhere along the line from the aerial there must be a signal splitter that feeds the upstair and downstair terminals.
Try to find that splitter and switch the output to see if the problem goes from up to downstair.
If it does switch then you know the problem is with the splitter block, and if it stays the same then the problem is with the cable and/or the connectors that run downstairs.
Also the reason you get a pixellated(snowy) picture is because of signal loss during the length of the cable you ran downstair.
If running a cable downstair becomes the best option to fix your problem , then you could buy a cheap 10db signal booster/r.f amplifier to correct the signal loss and a cable splitter to feed both tv`s
That booster would be installed upstair in your case(near the source of the signal to be amplified).
I could send you a small diagram if need be. Hope this will help and Merry Chrismas

I have a sony tv. It only has sound on some chanels. I have checked the cable connection with another tv;it is ok. What should I look for

Hi It sounds like a signal problem, I'm assuming its Freeview channels you are dropping, I have had the same problem on some of my TV's especially since the re-tuning channel 5 fiasco. Have you tried Re-tuning the DVB-tuner from the freeview menu, then settings or set-up or installation, then choosing the First Time Install option as it will wipe all previous channels. If you have a portable you can try it on the same aerial see if you have the same problem with that, then if it is the signal, buy a booster and put that on the RF input, which is what I did with the same problem. I am in a poor signal area and have had to have my aerial raised to get even an average signal.

Trying to install channels on goodmans ld1962d. Not sure what active antenna is. No channels are found when we have aerial in or out.

check for antena cable plug condition, normaly 80% of low quality of antena signal, is conection on antena plug (inside)

1st open antena plug, check for condition/connection of cable.
2nd check for each part of cable well connected, and no wires crossed on middle cable
3rd check same to the other end of cable.
4rd check the signal on diferent tvs around house (if available)

if this general you dont have aerial signal in your house, check for your TV provider (cable) to test your arial signal.(Normaly this maybe a cable broken outside house).

Freeview box (Duraband)

Hi Sandra , it could be poor signal ,worth trying another box on your aerial , also the aerial lead could cause this even the one from the wall plate to the Freeview box ,if your analogue picture is snowy then I would suspect the aerial have you looked for a signal strength meter in the menu , might show how good the signal is
hope this helps
