This error code indicates a communication problem between two electrical modules. The most common solution is to turn off the machine and then disconnect the flat cable that plugs into the back of the reader assembly (behind and below the document feeder), the connector has a button either side of it which both need to be squeezed to remove the connector. Check both ends of the cable and disconnect and reconnect it. Turn back on the power and if this was the comm error your problem will go away. If not, then try disconnecting all of the interconnecting cables between the machine and peripherals.

If none of the above works then you have an internal comms error and possibly a firmware error which will need to be upgraded by a technician.
