Broken screen the touch screen is crack and the unit will not work i dropped my player and the screen cracked i can still listen to my music but i cannot see anything because there is just a big black dot in the middle and that is surrounded by white.

Plz answer i hv the same problem...Thx

Unfortunely most of the time when you drop a portable unit, things get knocked loose or in the worse case a cracked Circuit board from the empact, shake the unit to see if you hear any rattling inside the case, if so then there may be broken mechnical or plastic parts inside. put your ear close to the unit, after inserting a disc, and listen to the spindel motor rev up. You can also here the pickup tap slightly against the disk if you do not hear any motor spinning then the clamper may not be down on the disc or laser is not working, a non working laser could mean a cracked board.

it sounds like the unit has been dropped and has cracked on the inside of the screen. we see this a lot with mobile phones. you may need to have the internal screen replaced.

Contact the manufecturer.

If there isn't any display change when you attempt the access different menus and folders and especially if it doesn't light up there is a good chance that you cracked your screen (permanent damage). This does not mean that your Zen will not work, it should in fact work normally except that you will not be able to see anything. Non-touch screen audio devices work via buttons and internal programing so the screen cracking will not affect the devices ability to play music.

However if the screen is truly cracked, it will not right itself and can only be fixed by a professional, which usually means $$ for the time and the new screen. I don't know what kind of support Creative has but depending on how new your device is the problem might fall under any warranty.

Unfortunately your problem sounds rather permanent.

this problem is the same with me! i dropped my iPod, but it cracked the screen and i'm pretty sure i haven't dropped it on the jack because im very careful with it!!!

Unfortunatly there is a fine wire Grid below the surface of the glass, the grid detects where you are touching on the screen, with the glass being broken, the grid is broken, which will cause dead spots or regions on the touch screen. You will have to replace the Touch screen or the unit which ever is most cost effective.
