My pc was working fine. Clicked on a shortcut and computer powered off. Went to turn back on and will not. The light on the power switch does not come on, the fans come on for only a second then off, the keyboard lights flash for a sec when you push power switch. Does it need a new power supply? Please help. Thanks.
I had temporarily solved this problem on my PC. After much research I've learned that Gateway shipped these PC's with faulty bios. What you will notice is that your machine will "loud fan reboot" every hour like clock work. Either clock in manually or use your system tools to see the exact reboots and manually reboot a minute before it shuts itself down. This has worked for myself and many others on various boards if you google the problem.
Weird? Yes!! But it worked !!! 2 months reboot free.
Do you know what your system is having the Processor error if you on the system the keyboard flickers and later go away but the fan also runs for seconds and later went off then what you have to do is to detached all components attached to your system then only the system unit alone .
Use a good power connector cable and a good constructed socket then put it on and wait and hear the sounds it brings and the signals or error is going show then if it comes on and go off remove the fan and replace with new one if the problem persist then change the processor with new one and then your system should be back to life and if anything happened then post your difficulties so i can help you. ok
