I have a 42LCD2D HDTV and the power comes on but I have no picture or sound. Unplugged it for awhile and then turned it back on and it worked for a couple of minutes then the same thing happened. It will also not let me turn it of when I push the power button.

Get rid of this TV. Had one and replaced the bulb and light engine many times. Just buy a Samsung or Vizio 50+ inch instead and be very happy. Those Panasonic projection TV's were terrible. You will find a 50 inch Vizio for around $500 bucks and it will blow your mind how great the picture looks.
You will need to get a diagnosis done on the set. It could be a power supply issue or a main board issue. Your problem is between one of those two boards.
unplug the TV's power cable. With it unplugged, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds and release it. Repeat for another 30 seconds. Plug it back in and turn it on. I hope this works for you.
U have a solid green light from the LED power light indicator right?U have this DLP tv for awhile like two or three years, and use it alots right?Never change the lamp and the ballast right?Change the lamp and the ballast should solved ur problems.
While it is suspicious happening so soon after lamp replacement, your main power supply may have failed.
In earlier sets, these were problems that eventually happened.
do any lights come on with the TV?, like white vizio or orange vizio light. sounds like a problem with the power board. some vizio parts have lifetime warranties so contact vizio support and report your problem. if it is covered the service call is free. there is a green led light on the power board that should come on, if it is not on, you may have a bad power board. to see this light on the power board, turn off the lights in the room and view the tv from the back cover, power board is 3/4 way toward top in the middle of the tv
