NO I dont think so. Fading is usually caused by the light sensor. This can be set up to work from menu and takes the form of Auto adjust brightness Y/N
The sensor is faulty, so try unticking this feature. I guess it does not do it at night?
You need to update your software. Garmin does this through a downloaded file you burn to a CD. You then do a firmware update to the Kenwood from the CD. Instuctions are on-line at: http://www.kenwoodusa.com/Support/Car_Entertainment/Software/Garmin320/
