Craftsman garage door opener works from the remotes fine during the summer, but as soon as it gets quite cold, below 30 degrees, you must be right next to the closed door for the remote to work. Have tried different remotes, checked the batteries, etc., as soon as we have a warm day, everything works fine.

If none of your remotes work and they all failed at the same time it is most likely the receiver that has quit. It is part of the logic board. The wall control is hard wired and doesn't use the receiver.
If the main light flashes 10 times when the door reverses to the open position it is a door sensor problem. Make sure both lights on the sensors stay on and don't flicker while the door is moving and the sensors are firmly attached so they don't move. Tweak them just a bit.
Some electronic components become sensitive to temperature and the only fix is to isolate the component and replacing it. In the case of door opener remotes it is cost effective to replace them.
Put the down force adjustment back where it was as it affects the safety reversing. If the main light flashes 10 times when you try to close the door it is a door sensor problem. Make sure they are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not flickering. Tweak them a bit if necessary. It could be an electronic component that is sensitive to cold and quits when the temperature drops. This is not uncommon.
if this is an outside remote the best you could do is maybe put someting to insulate the remote if it is in your car don't leave it on the visor put it in the glove box or maybe the center console it is obvious that expansion/contraction physics are playing a part
Yes, it seems to be a frequency issue. Craftsman usually guarantees 50 foot range on your remotes. Contact Craftsman, they will probably work with you to solve the problem.
You can turn up the up and down force on the motor head to give the unit more power. During colder weather the unit needs more power. Afterward do a 2x4 safety reversal test. thanks, BB
I can't believe it! My opener works fine a 10 degrees and above but below 10 degrees it would go down a little ways stop and go back with the light flashing. I checked the electric eye and found it would go out of alignment when the temp drop. Who knew! I made the adjustment and it now works fine.
