I think I have the same problem. I can't tell where the leak is, but I put De-Icer fluid in it, and when I tried to use it, it sprayed out from under the hood near the headlight. Any tips/cost on replacing the jug?

If it sprayed, then it's problably just a disconnected hose at the bottom of the jug where the little electric pump is attached.

Best method for defrosting the windshield of Toyota Corolla

The snow is starting to fall and the crisp, frigid winter air has arrived. I think that we can all agree that frosted windshields are a pain and having to go out to scrap the layer of ice off your windshield before heading to work in the morning can be the biggest pain of all. Here are some useful tips on 3 easy ways to defrost your windshield. Remember that it is important to take the time to properly clear off your vehicle before driving. Reduced visibility can be hazardous to yourself and other drivers on the road.
Cover Your Windshield-when leaving your vehicle, cover your windshield with a large piece of cardboard, a folded sheet or a towel. Remove the windshield cover when you are ready to leave and find that your windshield is free of ice and snow. There may be a thin layer or frost but the heater can quickly take care of that. There are magnetic windshield covers that are available to purchase online as well.

Ice Preventer or De-Icer Spray-ice preventer sprays can be sprayed on the windshield each night to create an ice-free windshield in the morning. De-icers are used to help clear your windshield when there is frost. You can purchase commercial ice preventer or de-icer sprays but you can also make homemade sprays as well. Fill a spray bottle with rubbing alcohol and add a few drops of dish soap, mix it well and then spray it directly on your icy windshield. A 3-to-1 white vinegar and water mixture will also work as well.
Remote start-remote start is a great feature to have in the winter and many new vehicles come with this feature now. Use the remote start while you are finishing up getting ready for your day and by the time you get to your vehicle it will be defrosted, warm and ready to go.

Freezing Temps have seized my emergency brake i think. How would one go about fixing this issue?

Get it into a warm garage is about the only fix. You could try spraying De-Icer on and around the cable, if you can get to it...

Good Luck. I hate W*I*N*T*E*R*. . . .

I have a a pick-up B-3000 extend cab and the rear door are stuck from the button. How can opens these doors?

  • If it's simply the car door lock that's frozen, try heating your car key with a lighter and inserting it into the lock. The heat from the metal may be enough to thaw the ice and allow you to unlock it. To ensure that the lock will not freeze again, spray it with WD-40.

  • If the entire door is frozen, carefully chip the ice away from the edges with a scraper. Be careful not to scratch the paint of the car. If you cannot chip the ice away, try pouring some windshield washer fluid on the icy areas; windshield washer fluid contains alcohol and this may help melt the ice.

  • Use a blow dryer set on high to melt the surrounding ice.

  • The best way to open a frozen car door and prevent future frustration is to purchase de-icer. Many good brands are available at hardware and auto shops - just be sure the solvent displaces moisture and leaves behind a lubricant. If the lock itself is frozen, spray the product directly into the key hole, wait five seconds and then put in your key and try to turn it. Most of these products have straws that help direct the product out of the can and into small areas, making the de-icing process easy.

Once the door is open, consider spraying the de-icer along the hinges of the door to keep other parts from freezing. Keep the de-icer in your home or garage where you can easily find it. Do not keep it in your vehicle. Having de-icer in your frozen vehicle won't do you much good.

When my car has stood overnight and got frozen door opens o k but when i get in it just keeps bouncing open their is no problem when the weather is normal

Your door latch needs some lubrication. In a pinch you can use a propane torch and heat the latch to get it warmed up and working freely. It only takes 30 seconds or so directing the flame all over the latch. don't get too close or you will burn the paint. Once you have the latch working, spray it liberally with a can of lock de-icer. Put the spray nozzle into the latch where the door hooks into it and rotate the spray can to get into different parts of the latch. The alcohol in the de-icer will evaporate the water or condensation in the latch. After a few minutes re-spray the latch with
WD-40 or RustCheck in the same manner. This will help to keep it from freezing again. You may have to occasionally repeat this process especially after a period of warm followed by a cold spell.
You can also accomplish this by removing the door panel and getting directly at the latch. If you do it will likely only have to be done once, otherwise you may have to do it from the outside a couple of times.
Doing this every fall should prevent it from occuring in the future. Hope this helps.

I put the key in the ignition and I try to turn it to start the car and it doesnt move.I have alresgy sprayed de-icer in it also I have sprayed sillico spray to try to loosen the cyclinder still nothing...

First, check to see if you have a different key that you also use for that car & try it. Second, you may need to remove the pressure off of the steering wheel to get the key to turn. Try turning the wheel even though it is locked to either side while attempting to turn the key. If that fails to work, it is entirely possible that your ignition switch or the lock cylinder will need to be replaced. Good luck.

After ice storm cannot get doors to close

get a hair dryer or heat gun on the locks. WD40 will work eventually depends how deep the freeze is.

I have two major leaks in my power steering system. I had someone put some fluid in and didn't think to look under the truck first so I'm not sure when the leak started. I got in the truck and started it...

Pump, pressure hose, return line, or steering gear. I would have to see it to tell you for sure. The best thing to do is clean it up real good with a de-greaser- like simple green. I would then refill with ps fluid and while someone else starts the vehicle and turns the wheel, use a flashlight and look for leak.

Rear passenger side wheel won't turn

sounds like you left the handbrake on in very low temperatures and the moisture has frozen the shoes to the brake drum .....can you get vehicle into a garage to warm up?? if not use a can of de,icer and spray the rear of the wheel not the front and hopefully some will enter the drum and release it.Do you have a blowtorch for plumbing ,if so gently try warming the drum up slowly as this can cause the drum to crack if not done right.Have you tried going in reverse ???this often frees a frozen brake especially in conjuction with a spray of de.icer

Windshield de-icer switch does not work.

If you had this done, you paid for it to be done right. Take it back and have it redone.
