I can not print with black ink.
I changed the black print cartridge twice and even the new cartridges don't print.

  • smmasker Jul 01, 2008

I have the Kodak 5500 All in one printer. It will not print with the black ink cartridge. I have taken the cartridge out and cleaned and replaced with a new cartridge. It still will only print in color.

  • smmasker Jul 01, 2008

I am not getting any error messages it goes through the printing cycle and I can hear it printing but only the color print is on the paper.

  • smmasker Jul 01, 2008

I have the Kodak 5500 All in one printer. The Black ink cartridge wont print. Fixya experts keep telling me to clean it with window cleaner -I did and I also put a new ink cartridge in and it still doesnt work. Ive only had this printer a few months but have had it release full pages of heavy black ink while printing.

  • smmasker Jul 01, 2008

I have removed the ink cartridge and used windex on a paper towell and kept dabbing the spot where the ink cartridge touches the little platform inside the tray that holds the ink cartridge/ Is that correct?

  • smmasker Jul 01, 2008

So far have not had a solution that has worked.

  • smmasker Jul 01, 2008

This Kodak printer is used daily and has never went dry. It is only a few months old. I have always had problems with it unloading a half page of black ink sometimes while printing.

First, make sure that you are using original Kodak cartridges and not refilled or generic ones. Also make sure that you have inserted the cartridge correctly, and removed any backing plastic covers, etc.

Secondly, try the nozzle check, and manually clean the print head with moist paper towel.

Should neither work, try a hard reset: Unplug the printer from PC and power source, wait about 5 minutes and replug everything and try.

If even that fails, it means you will have to call in the manufacturer, as its likely to be a circuitry issue, or some other problem..

Your best bet then is to send it in to the manufacturer as it is still under warranty.

Performed a nozzle check, and the black grid (at the top) as well as solid
You definately have a clog. A friend has the same trouble. They
happened to let the ink run completely dry is what caused the problem.
Did you use generic inks or let the printer sit idle for a long long
time?

Hope that help a bit.........

Its because ur black ink head is clogged.remove the ink head n leave the bottom of the head dipped in a little bit of water.it will dissolve clogged ink.reinstall ur head into the printer n then clean ur head with the head cleaning option to maintain the flow of ink.it will work properly after that 4 sure.keep me updated.

feel free 4 further assistance .rate the particular experts solution as fixya that helps u understand n solve ur problem

Have a look at my previous posts about intensive cleaning. This works in many cases with ink jets that have suffered a clog in the print head.

Are you able to make black and white copy if yes then you need to go the control panel select printer folder and right click on the printer icon you tab printing preferences once you need to search for the check box print all documents in black and white,

If the copy is not working you need to clean the contacts of the black cartridge .Take a warm, damp paper towel or napkin and gently clean the bottom of the car where ink comes repeat the same process with dry paper towel and try to print , if this did not work you need to replace the cartridges as the ink may be dried.........

Check warranty then - common issue for inkjet printers : the printhead gets clogged.

5300 kodak printer black ink dont work

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent ink drying out and blocking the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer than replace the print head.

I gave my dauther a kodak 5500 printer for christmas, it prints the test sheet ok but then does not print anyother pages. it has new ink both black and colored. thank you in advance for your help kelly c

This can be the issue with printhead if you are printing documents (black color can be missing from the print)

Try to print a picture from the computer, if it works then the issue is with black color (printhead needs replacement)
If nothing prints from computer then call kodak tech support (drivers will be re-istalled, delete the printer icon from Conntrol Panel > Printer and Faxes > Restart the computer > Connect the printer USB cable again.

Kodak 5500 print faded colors

You need a new printer head. I had the same problem and so did my mom. Here is the good news, it wont cost you anything. Just go to the KODAK web site, you can get to it by Googling Kodak all in one tech support and walk through the step by step. Sounds like you have done most of what they will walk you through already. At the end (takes about 5 minutes) the web site will tell you you need a new print head. They then will let you order it right online at no cost to you. Delivery is about 3 to 5 business days. Good luck.
