I have a apex GB5108 tv, the picture has become a red yellow and blue horizontal line in the middle of the tv. is it fixable

Thats vertical deflection failure . Check the solder on the vertical output IC and the Yoke plugs. If that doesnt help you may need a new Vertical IC

Convergence out of line

STKs must not have held up Look in back of set they are 2 Big Black ICs will have part number on them example STK392-110,if 110s use 150s.you can order parts from MATs 1-800-628-1118.

Hello, I have an Apex GB5108 and it has a horizontal colored line going through the middle. What component could be bad and needing replacing? Thanks Tom

I am not familiar with this particular set, but it sounds like you have no vertical deflection, which would mean your vertical output IC may be bad. The # on those ICs usually start with LA and is mounted to a heatsink.

Red/Orange horizontal lines

it could be that the tv convergence circuit is going bad. One shure way of finding out is to go to the tv feature menu(picture,audio etc.) and select the customer convergence setting, you should get a cross hair pattern(cross in middle of screen). that cross should be white and by aligning the red or blue colors they should move left, right, up or down

Double images and colors are blurry .Blue,red and yellow wave coming up from the bottom of the screen on the lower left and fuzzy images this is a symptom is for busted convergence IC,you must replaced this IC in order that will works better again.STK 392-xxx ICs and it's associated resistor,this resistor automatically change value,can caused truoble even though you change the ICs.If you bring this to a service center they cost you $600 to $700,but if you buy the repair kit you can save more,don't wory it is very easy because there is intallation guide including in the repair kit. 'I to am getting only wavy blue lines, no sound, doesn't even show channel indicators. TV was off for 4 days, came home turned it on and ten minutes later this screen appeared, it wont even show the menu screen, different channels or video inputs no sound either.

If the lines are thin and close together running horizontally, it may be the vertical driver, but that usually takes out the resistor and sometimes the diode in the B+ for the vert. Also you must replace the caps that caused the problem in the first place.

Your Convergence is off. Go through the menue to the CONVERGENCE and follow the on screen instructions.

Start with the RED gun and align each cross point starting with the upper left corner.

You will be pulling the red to match the green.

If the television shuts down during this process, it will reset the convergence and you can try again.

After you get the red gun perfectly aligned with the green, start with the blue.

follow the on screen directs and don't forget to store.

Use the remote for these adjustments.

Go to Trinixsoft.com for complete manual. Cost 4.99 for download or 9.99 for shipped cd. I kinda have same problem but my exits with 3 red colors in bowtie form. I think mine is the TDA8351 or vertical control IC. Hope this helps.

SOUND NO PICTURE ONLY RAINBOW

I just fixed this problem on my neighbor TV. I don't have a manual or schematic, and didn't pay any attention to the reference designators, so I will just have to describe it. The problem was a bad solder joint. Visible thermal fatigue. Looking at the main board, (didn't even need to slide the cassis out). There is a small, narrow, vertical board in the center, adjacent to the yoke connectors with a funny looking little transformer on the very top. Check the connections on that.
