I have a Panasonic PT-47WX53G 47" Projection TV that developed a convergence problem a few months ago. I ordered from Panasonic the factory service manual. From that and talking a panasonic factory shop they thought it could be the convergence board. I ordered and replaced the convergence board DC-board p/n TNPAA120. It took 3-4 months to receive the board, pluged it in and still had the same problem that it will not align all the way. All the alignment is done in software via the remote. I also bought the factory alignment template to help with the alignment but it just won't align all the way. Any help here would be appreciated.
I don't know why that guy told you to replace your "DC" board (that is the one you mean, right?) More likely than not, it's your convergence amp integrated circuits (ICs). I had what I think was the same problem (on the same exact model TV) you described, and I looked around alot of blogs and DIY websites, and this seems to be the most prevalent root behind these convergence problems. I ordered the two chips for twelve bucks (for both), spent a few extra bucks (like $35) on some electronic tools / solder supplies, and followed procedures laid out here at http://cmpalmer.blogspot.com/2006/11/fixing-my-own-tv-part-i.html, as well as paying strict attention to the service repair manual (which you said you already have?). The result? No more convergence problem, and I saved myself around $400 - $550 over having it done by a professional.
Seriously-- I bet this is the culprit. Just make sure if you're gonna do this that you FIRST check the six resistors (located at spots D-7011 thru D-7016) to make sure there are none burnt out / opened. It may be that one of those is fried also / instead. Since they are far easier to replace, it's good just to rule them out first.
And by the way, just FIY, when I did this I had kept the TV unplugged for about two weeks first, cuz I wanted to make sure all the capacitors were discharged and safe. Did I need that much time? Maybe not (some have said a few hours is sufficient), but I was also primarily concerned about the Flyback Transformer and its wires, which have the highest voltage (up to 30,000 volts) and can hold a charge pretty long. And I'm still here to write about it. So, check out the link, and see if you'd like to try this yourself, as well!
I had the same thing happen after my chips were in. It is just an unavoidable result of having changed the chips. The regular nine-point convergence feature in the consumer's remote control menu just wasn't fine tuned enough to get everything to come into proper alignment. What you want to do is use your repair / service manual. It shows you how to get into the serviceman's repair menu with your remote so you can do the extremely fine tuned convergence (at like a couple hundred points, and for all three colors blue green and red, not just blue and red). This is where having your template will really pay off (I never got one -- didn't want to part with the money). The only thing is, this serviceman's adjustment menu can tweak things most consumers should never be allowed to mess with, because if you goof something up, you can really have a terrible time trying to figure out how to undo what you did wrong. However, this menu, when properly read in your manual and understood, can help you not only to get your convergence back to brand new quality, but also to optimize little nuances of the quality of your picture that can be thrown off over time with normal usage of your TV. Stuff like focus of the lenses, the trapezoidal pitch of the shape of the screen, etc. etc.
So be hopeful. But be careful, too...

Same exact problem on exact model
I have the same problem with just the red. I going to do some more research I'll let you know what I find.
I have the same problem with the red....did helmershawk find any answers?
I have the same problem but the side to side line in converge will not line up thru the remote it will not move all the way over and it is not straight. Any ideas
HiDefDad,
Bingo, thanks for taking the time to answer my plea. That was top notch. I had given up on the TV but did not through it away. I pulled the board out very careful. I checked the 6 resistors and they were good visibly and by ohming them out. I then ordered the 2 chips on eBay from the same company that you mentioned for about $16 including shipping from Electronix, had the chips 3 days later. Installed them and then I was able to bring the convergence back. A pain in the but because I spent some much time before trying to align them. It is mostly good, some curve lines at the top don't want to straighten out, small red lines at top and bottom are just slightly off but only shows if you look hard. Since you are so good at this, any fast ways to re-align the colors especially red. Never the less, thanks alot. Another note, when soldering, make sure you use the lead-free solder like recommended by the manufacturer. Felix
Thanks again for your input, that's what I used to do the alignment by going into the service menu, I used all the options, the convergence is aligned in all but the top small area and similar at the bottom, even when it curved a little, I got most of the convergence to be the same. It is just that last little bit. Had I know what you know about the chips and not made any adjustments in the beginning, maybe it would be perfect now. I guess I just have to keep messing with it, to get that just right combo. Felix
