Question about 2wire (1000-400108-001) Router
Hi
those ports need to be opened or the xbox needs to be set to a DMZ (demilitarized zone) which allows all traffic in and out from the xbox.
if you could post me the exact brand and model of the router, from the label, write me everything you find if your not sure.
We will have to set the Xbox to a static IP address and give that IP address to the router and put it under DMZ.
I'll write instructions but I need to know the router before I can direct you to the right places.

I'm looking into it, have you tried just to unplug the router for 5 minutes and turn it back on and see if it helps?
Try that while I look for the details.
I forgot to ask, does your son have Xbox360 or the old black xbox?
Lets set the xbox 360 to a static IP first. you can't play on the net as it is, so it can't do any harm.
Start the console without a disc in the drive.
1. Select My Xbox, and then select System Settings.
2. Select Network Settings.
3. Select Wired Network
4. Select Configure Network.
5. Select Basic Settings, then IP Settings.
6. Select Manual.
7. Select IP address.
8. Enter/input 192.168.0.111
9. Select Subnet Mask, Enter/input 255.255.255.0
10. Select Gateway, Enter/input 192.168.0.1
11. Select Done
Make sure you wrote those numbers correctly.
Now the problem is not yet solved. Next we need to turn on DMZ for the 192.168.0.111 ip from the router.
Go to your computer and open a internet browser, on the address bar remove any text that may be there and then writehttp://192.168.0.1 and hit enter
You should get asked for username and password, the username is admin and the password should be sky
You need to go to the firewall settings in there and find DMZ, enter the 192.168.0.111 into the DMZ field.
Don't be afraid to look around freely in the routers settings while you look for the DMZ, you can't mess anything up by just looking, only thing you need to change is the DMZ which is probably a checkbox that you need to check so that its turned on and then enter the ip that we gave to the xbox into the field, then probably hit apply or save, the router will probably restart itself, test your xbox live connection, if its not working restart the console. Run the network test on the console what does it say?
check that all the wires are properly connected.
Just return to this page or email me at [email protected] I'm on a different timezone, it might be best to email me.
whats wrong, what are you getting stuck on?

Hi and thank you. I hope the following will enable you to help as advised.
It's a 'Sagem' router and the only numbers i can find are mac code and a bar code, the bar code is LK09063DP314553. Is this sufficient or where else can i look? Thanks again.

My son has unplugged the phone line connection to the router on the Xbox but it hasn't achieved anything. If i unplug the router 'per se' i'm concerned i'll lose connection to my pc and have even more problems. What i really can't understand is why his Xbox just 'suddenly' wouldn't/couldn't connect???
It was bought in Aug 2008, it's white.
Sorry, it's an Xbox 360
Thanks i will try this and get back to you soon.
Unable to get further than step 3? Just keeps coming back to step 3 and/or saying 'disconnected'. Just returns to 'avaialble networks'?
I have to leave for work in 20 mins. If we don't get this sorted can i access you via this same message service tomorrow evening or do you have a link or e mail address i can use or something as once i close all these messages will e 'lost'?
Hello again, can you continue to advise/help please? We are getting nowhere thus far i'm afraid.
Hi again Ekse, i await further advice please?
