Question about 2wire (1000-400108-001) Router

1 Answer

A week ago my son connected to Xbox live without issue now it just won't connect? Sky don't have any idea and Microsoft said i should ensure all necessary ports are open, when i checked as advised none of the 6 ports are open??? So how come, from our end nothing has changed and yet Sky & Microsoft can't seem to help...HELP!!! My Sky broadband to the PC has no problems nor does my wireless connection to my PC. My son's xbox is wired to the router and nothing there has been changed nor any loose wires etc as far as i can tell.

Hi and thank you. I hope the following will enable you to help as advised.

It's a 'Sagem' router and the only numbers i can find are mac code and a bar code, the bar code is LK09063DP314553. Is this sufficient or where else can i look? Thanks again.

My son has unplugged the phone line connection to the router on the Xbox but it hasn't achieved anything. If i unplug the router 'per se' i'm concerned i'll lose connection to my pc and have even more problems. What i really can't understand is why his Xbox just 'suddenly' wouldn't/couldn't connect???

  • Huw David Jones Dec 15, 2010

It was bought in Aug 2008, it's white.

those ports need to be opened or the xbox needs to be set to a DMZ (demilitarized zone) which allows all traffic in and out from the xbox.

if you could post me the exact brand and model of the router, from the label, write me everything you find if your not sure.

We will have to set the Xbox to a static IP address and give that IP address to the router and put it under DMZ.

I'll write instructions but I need to know the router before I can direct you to the right places.

I'm looking into it, have you tried just to unplug the router for 5 minutes and turn it back on and see if it helps?

Try that while I look for the details.

I forgot to ask, does your son have Xbox360 or the old black xbox?

  • Ekse Dec 15, 2010

Lets set the xbox 360 to a static IP first. you can't play on the net as it is, so it can't do any harm.

Start the console without a disc in the drive.

    1. Select My Xbox, and then select System Settings.
    2. Select Network Settings.
    3. Select Wired Network
    4. Select Configure Network.
    5. Select Basic Settings, then IP Settings.
    6. Select Manual.
    7. Select IP address.
    8. Enter/input
    9. Select Subnet Mask, Enter/input
    10. Select Gateway, Enter/input
    11. Select Done

Make sure you wrote those numbers correctly.

Now the problem is not yet solved. Next we need to turn on DMZ for the ip from the router.

Go to your computer and open a internet browser, on the address bar remove any text that may be there and then writehttp:// and hit enter

You should get asked for username and password, the username is admin and the password should be sky

You need to go to the firewall settings in there and find DMZ, enter the into the DMZ field.

Don't be afraid to look around freely in the routers settings while you look for the DMZ, you can't mess anything up by just looking, only thing you need to change is the DMZ which is probably a checkbox that you need to check so that its turned on and then enter the ip that we gave to the xbox into the field, then probably hit apply or save, the router will probably restart itself, test your xbox live connection, if its not working restart the console. Run the network test on the console what does it say?

My son is enjoying xbox live. but we've changed internet provider (from sky to virgin media) and since then we are unable to connect his xbox to the internet so he cannot access his profile. i'd...

No, You do not have to change your xbox
No, You do not have to change you gamer tag
Yes, you can recover your profile

What your having is an internet issue, you must contact your internet service provider first. Xbox console connect with different connection as Static IP service (House Line) or Dynamic IP Service (Cable). Normally the person that installes your internet should help you configure all the equipment as they are trained for that service.

My son has xbox 360 live. Can he use my Sprint

You could try but that is not tested by the live group so I doubt that it will work. Aircard are not tested for xbox 360 consoles and if it will work, he might encounter issues for the multiplayer games and game lags. Try going to for more issue for the compatibility of the service.

Xbox live is not working

How are you connecting Your Xbox console upto your Internet ? if your Connecting Via WiFi, Make sure you have the Xbox compatible WiFi adaptor, if you are connecting Via a Local Area network, Ensure that your Console is hooked up Directly to Your Router, and if your connecting Via a Shared internet connection thru a PC, Ensure it is Hooked up correctly and also that your computer is set up to allow sharing the internet connection, That sometimes makes Xbox live faulty.

Also another problem for IP addresses not working is Due to your Internet service provider, Some broadband companies constantly renew IP addresses changing them every so often which the Xbox doesnt like. I would suggest contacting your Service provider and seeing if they have any Technical Support !
