My Garmin 1300 shuts down for no reason, even when charging the battery. It will not restart until it is off for an extended time, then it does this all over again when I try to use it. I don't think it is the battery, for it would at least run when it is charging! What do you think? Stephen

Got a Garmin Nuvi 260. Same problem. I read the booklet. There's a reset button on the bottom. Disconnect from power. Push the reset button. Connect back to power. Now it works. The reset button is tiny and looks more like just text on the bottom sticker than it does a button. But push it anyway.

Hello, take the sd card out of the unit, press the reset button if one is available, if not hold the on/off button for 10 seconds and then reinstall the sd card and switch the unit back on and hopefully the maps should reload

I had the same problem with a 1300 unit and a car charger. After holding power button for 10 seconds it would begin to start, but get stuck while saying "Loading Maps." and then it would shut off again.
I fixed it by plugging the unit into a computer USB port. It then did it's PC connection startup as usual, which leaves a connection icon on the screen. I gave it a minute and then unplugged it from the PC. It then restarted and booted up properly.

we are having the same issue with ours - sometimes it will power up no issues and other times it the power button won't work - seems lots of this brand, different models all have the same issue - not sure what the solution is though

If your device is currently experiencing the following symptoms it may need to come in for service/repair:

• The device powers on and freezes at the Garmin logo with no trademark or copywrite info displayed on the device which normally shows up below the logo. The device will not display the Main Menu and will not go into Mass Storage Mode.
• The device powers on and freezes at the Garmin logo and then flashes a white screen briefly. The device then begins a loop of showing the Garmin logo and then flashes the white screen over and over again. The device will not display the Main Menu and will not go into Mass Storage Mode.
• The device powers on and then freezes or shuts down when displaying the Loading Maps screen.
