I am new to VPN and have limited network experience, but I am the IT person for a large Church and need the ability to make a VPN Peer connection through our Netvanta 3200 router (PPTP) to our server for fixing problems when I cannot be on site. I have tried to use the Netvanta's VPN Peer wizard and have set up a VPN server connection in XP on the PC I wish to connect to, but I don't know if I did it correctly. I have tried to connect via a laptop and the authentification settings used in the wizard, but no connection is made. I could sure use some help.

SOURCE: Can not ping our netvanta 3200 from behind a Linksys nat router

The switch between the NAT routers and the Netvanta had some faulty ports ... the physical connection was broken. Once the switch was replaced, the internet connection was restored.

I am running vista and using the dlink di-808hv router. i have set up a pptp connection. when i use ms vpn to connect, it connects but only limited connectivity. can you help?

Peer to peer tunneling protocal is what pptp is if its connecting a limited connectivity that means some of the ports are stull being blocked thus needing for you to use your machine in a demilierized zone so this will open all avilable ports to your VPN software. Also keep in mind not all ISP's will support PPTP so you may have to use a softvpn software. Thanks i hope this helps

Cannot connect to SonicWall VPN

My guess is that dhcp is using the same private network scheme. Try changing your home network scheme to something different than your office.
For example:
Office = 192.168.1.x
home = 192.168.2.x

VPN

Yes it helps to know that, thanks. If you are using similar flavors of "Windows" at both ends and the VPN is setup correctly then file-sharing should be relatively easy to accomplish.

Do you already share files on each discrete network locally?

DLink DI-624s - can't get Cisco VPN Client to connect.

The "Virtual Server" setting is designed to give the general public access to a network resrouce (web/ftp/media server) on your internal network. If your the VPN concentrator is external to your network (meaning you'll have to use the internet to connect to it), then you won't need to define a virtual server on the DI-624.

You'll just need to enable the IPSEC and PPTP VPN Passthrough which it sounds like you've already done this. I've run into some ISP's that block VPN connections out of their network. If you have the ability, try to directly connect your laptop into your cable/DSL modem in place of your router and see if you can make a VPN connection, if not contact your ISP, if you can then verify you enabled the VPN passthroughs because your router is blocking them.

GIve it a shot and let us know your results.
