    I cannot get rid of the error message "check printer cartridge". I put in a new cartridge about a week ago, and it printed fine then. I have tried to press "cancel" button and print an alignment, but it will not print anything. I have taken the cartridge out several times and it don't effect it at all. I wanted to make sure the cartridge was in correctly and was the right one too. I put the old cartridge back in and the printer has the same error message and "E" light blinking. I just don't know anything else to do??

    I guess the printer is about 4-5 years old, its a HP psc 1210, bought at "Office Supply" in Sanford, NC.

    Thank you, Mrs. Peggy Buchanan

Two problems;

1 - This unit cannot be set back to factory settings as it does not have the keypad to enable this functionality.

2.
Most of the time when the error pops up it is due to problems with either the printer reading the cartridge is in from the contacts or the cartridge contacts are damaged.

I should also point out that refilled and remanufactured cartridges are the number one reason for the error but assuming that you are using hp cartridges fresh out of the pack take a look at this link and follow the steps. I would type them out but it even has pictures for easy reference!!

If you are not using hp cartridges then replace with genuine cartridges and it will most likely resolve the issue - the printer is able to tell the difference between a new and refilled/remanufactured and often times will reject the cartridge because of this.

Hi,

HP Printers have common behavior of going into sleep mode if not used for a while. If this happens every-time the printer goes to sleep mode and you find printing issue, try this simple step below

Disconnect the power cable from back of printer
While holding the # and 3 button, connect the power cord to printer.

*Note this is partial reset and doing so you may loose fax logs and other fax related setting you have setup on printer.

HP psc 1210 will not print

Hi,

Please check the printer status at control panel printer properties if it is offline or ready. Restart your computer if necessary, you will notice all pending jobs will be printed as long as there is no problem with the connections of cables and drivers. Note: Do not cancel printing jobs in the middle of sending data mode to printer or queing instead you have to remove all papers on tray and wait for the error "paper out or empty" then there click Cancel. Hopes this helps.
