The Epson SX218 is a pretty good and 'fast' printer.

If it appears to be slow, then you are probably printing in the 'fine'' or 'photo' mode: this is not necessary for day to day printing.

Check your printer property and set the print quality to 'normal' or fast/draft mode.

Try another USB cable or USB port. Its the data processing that is taking than usual when printing.

Epson iii & 4 printers prints slow
Try printing something that is formatted properly to fit on a receipt roll printer. the Windows test page will always be slow on a receipt roll printer, because it is formatted for 8-1/2" X 11" pritners and contains graphics. I suspect that actual printing will be fine.
