NEC MultiSync LCD1700V 17" Flat Panel LCD Monitor Logo

My NEC LCD screen 1760 has a problem: on first starting the computer (or upon plugging in the D-Sub cable) it will display the computer's video output fine (Regardless if the computer is in dos, or windows or in bios setup, it gets displayed perfectly) However, it does so only for a second or two and then goes blank. I've tried resetting it to no avail. Since it does display perfectly well (when it does) I figure it can't be anything major wrong with it. I just figure I'd ask before I start to replace fuses, capacitors and such... Any help will be much appreciated

SOURCE: I have a nec LCD2070nx Power light is on

Hi:
Your monitor has a problem on its inverter board. It is an electronic component failure, and often it cost's more to fix it than to buy a new LCD monitor .

SOURCE: nec lcd2080uxi, monitor power light comes on green

Power supply or backlight inverter problems, those are the two areas you need to check.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

How do i factory reset my NEC LCD1712 Monitor?

Here's some tricks I would try...
1. Verify the monitor's power cord is plugged firmly into the wall outlet and the back of the monitor.
2. Verify the monitor cable is firmly connected to the computer and the monitor.
3. Verify that you have turned the monitor power switch on.
4. If the power light on the monitor is not on, test the wall outlet (plug in a light or something you know works).
5. If the power light on the monitor is not on, try a different power cord.
6. If the power light is on and yellow or orange or flashing, but nothing displays, or the display is incorrect, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor probably needs replaced.
7. Also, you could try your display on a friend's computer. If it doesn't work, your monitor probably needs replaced. If it works properly on your friends computer, the problem may be with your computers video output port, motherboard video chip (or video card, if you have one), or drivers.
Good luck.

I have my nec laptop, which upon on, does not display anything on the screen. when connected to another monitor through LCD cable verything is seen on the other monitor.

look for a setting or switch that controls where the pc will send the video signal, on a Dell it is the "F8" key when you first depress "FN" key that toggles between local and remore displays.

The sreen is black, and the monitor light is orange

This usually indicates an input problem. There are number of things to check:

Make sure the screen is plugged into a working output on the video card - if you can, test the video with a different screen.

Try a different cable; Swap for the same type of cable, or, if available, use a different output method(Such as HDMI).

If using an adapter on the cable, try using a different adapter.

Test the cable on a different display, if possible.

Ultimately, if the video card, cable, and connector are all working, or the display is still not, its likely a bad input board within the display - if you're savvy and have some time to kill, replacement boards cost between 20-70 bucks on ebay.

Connecting Toshiba Lap Top to NEC LCD TV

From user manual (page 68):
Your computer comes with a built-in display panel, but you can also
connect an external display device to an available video port, as
follows:
❖ An external monitor or projector via the RGB (monitor) port
❖ A TV, VCR, or DVD recorder via the S-video (TV-out) port
Before connecting an external monitor or video projector, configure
your computer for the type of device you are connecting. To do this,
refer to the documentation for your operating system and devices

So you have to use an RGB cable or a S-video cable : your cable should be plugged into 15 pin VGA port in your PC and plug it into a correspondent port in your TV.
Try also S- video and select correponding input in your TV set (Both connection type DO NOT carry sound: use your audio connector from PC to TV audio input.)
Configure your extended screen using your manual instruction:
Once you have connected an external display device, you can
choose to use the internal display only, the external device only, or
both simultaneously. The quickest way to change the display output
settings is to use the display hot key (Fn + F5):
1 Press Fn and F5 simultaneously.
2 While holding down Fn, press F5 repeatedly until the setting
you want takes effect. Briefly pause each time you press the F5
key to allow time for the display to change.
This hot key cycles through the settings in the following order:
❖ Built-in display only
❖ Built-in display and external monitor simultaneously
❖ External monitor only
❖ Built-in display and TV
❖ TV only

Power light steady green but monitor goes dark after 4 secs of video

The video card in the computer could be going bad too or the driver for the video has corrupted. Try reloading the video drivers in the PC first.

DiamondPoint V71LCD Not displaying image

The LCD screen may be burned out. There's whats called an invertor board and there is an electronic ribbon strip on the LCD itself. If you look very carefully you can probably see a faint image on the screen. The LCD screen will need replacing. Before doing anything with this monitor, try it on another computer first and if you can try another monitor on your computer. Other than that, there really is nothing you can do but replace the monitor.
