To Whom It may Concern, I have a Canon MF3200 Copier/Scanner/Fax Machine and I am having difficulty receiving faxes. I am able to send faxes, but receiving them is impossible. The phone rings continuously. If I answer, then it simply omits beeping noises. Thank you.

Your fax machine (L120) use dry toner and not ink cartridges, so it doesn't have printhead. If the copies are dirty or bad but received faxes and printed documents are OK, then You have to clean the scanner unit (it's above the plain paper storage and can be opened with small handle).

The MP500 is not a fax machine. If you want to send and receive faxes using the printer, you need to have a dial-up modem in your computer with a telephone line connected. The computer then needs some kind of fax application like Microsoft Fax, which does the actual sending and receiving. The printer is just used as a scanner when you send, and to print received faxes.

If you have all this connected already and you can't receive, check your incoming telephone line and fax software settings to be sure the line is answering correctly.

Its a problem with scaner unit. Reports are being printed out, and do not pass trough scaner, because of thath report is Ok.

If the fax is still under warranty, go to warranty provider service.

Next time dont buy "kids toy" for fax machine. Try laser Canon Fax L140.

Hi Greg, call the busy number from a regular phone and listen for busy or fax tones.

the "Canon super G3 printer/fax/scanner/copier" is not model of fax! Model are eg L140,JX200, L80,....

yes this is one of the options prior scanning.

see if you have fax line(conect a telefone in the line to see if you have tone) or if the cable is conected.

Do you have a DSL or other digital phone service?

Make sure the phone line is plugged into the LINE port of your machine.

I am having a similar problem. You do have to connect your phone to the jack in the machine in the "Phone" jack slot, as well as have another line out to the jack in the wall in the "L" slot. That is all I know. I am having problems with my voicemail. Either I can received voicemail, and no faxes, or faxes, and no voicemail (fax picks up at specified number of rings). It is EXTREMELY frustrating. The machine is *supposed* to be able to discern between phone calls and faxes..and that is not happening.

Have you come across a solution? Aghhhhh!

This maybe totally independent of the fax machine but rather the printer part of it, what type of fax machine, if it's an all in one printer fax scanner, then it's time to add toner or you may have a printer head problem, what machine do you have?
