Turns on then turns off

My Dad has had the Mitsubishi VS 45607 for some years and he LOVES it until today. My Dad is 74 and a day without TV is like a day without air...LOl.. Anyway, when he attempts to turn on the TV, the green light comes on and the TV sounds as if it clicks on but it immediately turns off ( in a quick second). I any suggestion?

    I have been having the same problem with this tv as well.. The picture is great and sometimes it works great for days or even weeks.. then it just shuts down again.. sometimes unplugging it helps.. sometimes we just have to wait.. It was mentioned that the high voltage capacitors were the problem is this something that can be replaced? Has anyone had any luck in figuring out the problem

I own the Mitsubishi VS450607 model and and the set works good then automatically shuts itself off. Sometimes after two hours of viewing then sometimes after eight. Very unpredictable and very unstable. I have spoken to a repair shop and they suggested I remove the front panel where the speakers are and look at the circuit boards. They had suggested if I see a white powdery substance then that meant leaky tubes on the board and the unit was shot. They gave me two other reasons which I can't remember but, When I opened the front panel I did not see any leaky tubes or white powder on the boards but, I did see three main tubes in the front that were covered with a black dust. I cleaned these tubes with a soft cloth and for some reason the set is now working fine. It has been four days now without any problems.

The repair facility was suggesting to wait until the set shut off again then call them in so they can actually see what was going on. Repair cost quoted $200 labor minimum plus $89 service charge plus parts another $100 or so.

Worth the expense I figure but set is working fine after I have cleaned off dust on main tubes.

Hope this helps.

Fortunately I have a friend who repairs big screen for a living. Also I am an equipment service tech myself. More than likely the problem lies in the hi-voltage board. The capacitors are shot. You will need to locate that main Power / Hi-votage power board and that should take care of the problem. Keep in mind I would only do this if your picture is in ecellent shape.

Mitsubishi projection tv

GOOD DAY; THE VS-45607 Model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input/device and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source) 1. MAY BE INTERMITTENT, SELF-DIAGNOSIS ERROR 23 OR 24. CHECK SOLDER CONNECTIONS AT CONNECTOR "DY" ON THE YOKES. 2. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF-DIAGNOSIS ERROR 23 OR 24. Good Day, Delano1981;

It may cure the problem but I would suspect the 9 Volt source
CHECK C2P05 100 UFD 16 V OFF PIN 3 OF IC2P01 AND
IC2P01 PART # 270P466020 (9-VOLT REGULATOR). BOTH
ARE ON THE SIGNAL PCB.

This should resolve your TV"s condition.

Good Luck, big IRISH.
