I cannot install my brother printer on my new computer....It is an older printer, an HL 2040 and the insatall disc I have is from '05 and I am unable to get the download on line for the installation for windows 7 &.........don't know what to do?

You can download the Brother printer drivers from their support WEB site. Please click on this link and select your model printer to download : - http://www.brother.com.au/ProductsSolutions.aspx
Did you downloaded a Windows 7 Compatible Driver Software ?
If so give delete the existing downloaded file and give another try dy downloading it again . Possibly are there foe an incomplete / corrupt download .

the easiest step is to go on http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public/us/us/en/dlf/download_top.html?reg=us&c=us&lang=en&prod=hl2040_all and from there download drivers need it for your operating system
