Is the subwoofer all that is cutting off? Or is it both? You may have already explained, but all I can see is the original question. Thanks!
Disconnect the sub woofer and check to see if there is any short/low impedance in the speaker. Make sure that the impedance is matching to the amplifier as the shut down is due to some overloading. If after removing the woofer the amplifier works without any issues then make sure that the sub woofer is working with another amp.without any issues.
Distorted sound from the Soundbar.
Change the Trim Level switch setting to a higher number.
Check the signal source to be sure the distortion is not originating there. <<<<<<<<<
The woofer seems to have interference with its wireless signal.
Try changing settings of the Wireless ID switches on both the soundbar and bass unit. <<<<<<<<
The bass unit could be too far from the soundbar to get a good signal. Try moving it closer.
What is the source device that results in static? How is it connected?

The subwoofer is wireless and therefore cannot connect it with any other unit. The manual says that when the unit goes to "stand-by mode" when inactive and that seems to be an issue in some way. According to the manual the signal is sent from the sound bar an there's no direct interference between the two. Baffled.
