If the fan and turntable are not working when you try to cook, it's likely a bad bottom door switch or mount. See this file.

If the fan and turntable ARE working when you try to cook, the problem is the primary interlock switch, the inverter, the magnetron, or a connection between one or more of them.

We have a sound clip of what a microwave should sound like when the cooling fan and high voltage section are working.

We have the service manual at our site and have uploaded it here to help you.

You can order Sharp parts from Encompass here or call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.

Not heating

Usually one of three things and not in any order:

The diode commonly used in most microwaves= it cannot be shorted and work.

The inverter board which powers the Magnetron.

The magnetron itself which does the work and can only be tested for sure by replacing.

Microwave not heating

There are three common problems, bad magnetron, cracked high voltage diode, and a shorted capacitor, getting it serviced will not be cheap comes down to a personal decision.

Sharp microwave r95stm not heating

This a common problem, the likely cause is a bad magnetron "heats food" and is the heart of the microwave oven, if the item is five years or more, cheaper to replace.

Sharp modelR1381 everything works but will notheat

If it runs and makes normal noise but just no heat, issues is either a loose connector to magnetron or at diode to capacitor. Be careful with capacitor because it stores thousands of volts.

Sharp carousel microwave model # 508ak has power but does not heat food when you press the start button. thanks in advance!

9 times out of 10 this is usually this is a bad magnetron, the other time is sometimes a bad high voltage diode. See components section. Q - My microwave is running and sounds like it is working but will not heat up anything.
A - Many thing can do this but, common things are....loose high voltage wire.....poor solder joint on board.....magnetron.....power relay.....

Q - The microwave display counts down and the inside light is on, but nothing is heating and the fan is not running.
A - This most commonly is a bad door switch, other possible problems are a faulty relay or solder joint on the power module, but a bad door switch is most common.
thanks.
