My fridgidaire electric stove oven over heats. We changed the heating ailement worked once then over heats again ! What is wrong with it ?

Hello Shirley,

I am afraid you changed the wrong part.
Hopefuly you did not throw away the old element.
When you have a multimeter (as on the link)
Kp Digitale multimeter RMS 1999 cijfers 250 VAC 250 VDC 10 ADC UNI UT33D...

and you put it on "Ohm", you can mesure the resistance of the element. When the element has gone, the resistance will be very high. When the resistence is around 25 Ohms, the element is ok.

I think, you need to look at the thermostat.
In the second link you find how to replace this item on a Viking cooker, but the system is the same.

I hope this helps and wish you good luck.
Kind regards, Dik

The resistance no longer works - how to fix?

Hi Grace, you posted no resistance in a treadmill forum, but maybe you meant elliptical or bike. Resistance in fitness equipment is achieved in a couple of ways.....one...a pad or brake can be set to "rub" a spinning surface to make resistance on very low end units, to electrically controlled Eddy Brake systems on upper end units, which are operated by dumping power from a generator to increase resistance for the user. This second method can have electrical failures where the driving transistor for the generator load dies and fails. Most control boards can be repaired at buyfitnessrepairpartsDOTcom or email greg there for more help. Good Luck!

The fan in my 2002 GMC Savana cargo van doesn't work. I lost low, then medium speed, and finally the high speed.I checked the fuses and relays.I changed the blower resister, still no fan. The heat

Hi Jim, If the vehicle is fitted with climate control it will have electronic management. However it can be wired by someone knowing electrical circuitry to by pass the control. It will save you some cash but will need manual control. Make sure whoever does the job knows what he or she is doing. Have a happy new year. Regards John

My Proform 100 ZLX Exercycle is stuck in low/zero pedal resistance, and doesn't respond to console settings. Can this be economically fixed?

follow the steps, and fix it. God bless you

Be aware that the resistance is often the part that requires repair. Resistance is managed magnetically, so often if the machine is working, but the resistance isn't setting correctly or at all, check the bolts that secure the magnets. If they are loose, the resistance will slip. If the bolts are fine, check the magnets themselves by using a refrigerator magnet and see if it is attracted or repelled by the your fridge magnet. If not, the magnets have de-magnetized and need to be replaced.

04 Saturn vue compressor turns off when fan is set to 3 or 4

The problem is the blower motor speed control resistor, it is located near the blower motor in the housing. I exchanged mine and it works like a charm now.

Sharp AF-M808X air conditioner. suddenly there is only fan air movement. there is no longer any cooling; turning the thermostat knob to a higher level doesn't "kick in" the coolant. but...

Simple test: the thermostat in your unit is electromechanical - unplug the unit from the mains, take it out and measure the resistance between the 2 electrical contacts, if it doesn't goes to near 0 when you turn it even a little bit then it's defective and it will have to be replaced.
If the resistance does indeed goes to near 0 then the defect is in the AC system. Another simple test: open the casing of the unit and put your hand directly on the compressor; now turn the thermostat button. If it doesn't vibrate then the starting capacitor of the compressor has failed and it will have to be replaced with a similar one.If it vibrates then the cooling circuit has got a leak and all the fluid has been lost. For that you will have to call a pro that will solder the leak shut and refill the circuit with the appropriate fluid - only he will have it, it's not sold on the customer market.

The gas gage on our 2001 Nissan Aultima stays on ful all the time how can i fix this problem at home

There is a small resister unit in the gas tank,on your fuel pump, that registers fuel level by electrical current. If this is stuck in the up position it will register full all the time.Don"t laugh, but find a rough road and see if it will come loose,No I'm not kidding. If this doesn,t work the unit will have to be replaced because its broken. This involves changing a perfectly good fuel pump out as well to fix this because the two components are built together. Good Luck

check your relays disconnect and look at the switch is open and one is closed ...check the resistance with ohmeter....one should be open...ones should have resistance..that is the switch...then check sensors.. you can disconnect and boil them, to see if the resistance changes when under high temps 160-200 f should show resistance changes...check main computer relay as well sometimes the cooling fan electrical curcuits are shared in the system multi plexed...
