Product code looking for product code for garmin nuvi 370. trying to update maps, asks for code. have original box with contents and cd, but can't seem to come across the product code. thanks!

If the Garmin Nuvi is sold with "life-time updates" for maps & traffic - updates are available for download at MyGarmin.com once they are available.

A "life-time update" is coupled to the serial number of the Garmin unit. If the serial number does not match the box with "life-time updates" on it - it could be the Garmin Nuvi came from another box without "life-time updates".

Without "life-time updates" - maps are available for free within 60 days after purchase. A "purchase" is registered by the Garmin device if it detects a certain speed or when it's registered at MyGarmin.com - meaning the 60 day countdown starts. Without a "life-time update" for traffic - a traffic subscription must be bought for a country & timeframe. (ie a year).

Go To Tools..... Settings..... Map.....on bottom of screen you will see Map Info ....press it now make sure you want to use the map that has a checkmark in it..... if you have 2 maps there youcan only use 1 at a time

The Product Key for your map update download can be found in your myGarmin account.
To view the Product Key:

1. Log in to myGarmin
2. Click on myMaps
3. Click on Map Downloads

You can purchase map updates online from Garmin. Here's the link I use: https://my.garmin.com/maps/chooseDeviceType.htm

You'll need to connect your Garmin to your computer with a USB cable. Then go to the Garmin web site and follow their directions. You can buy a single update, or buy a "lifetime" (of the device) subscription to map updates.

I had the same issue..what a pain in the ****.
I came up with a solution that worked for me.
After the update i deleted gmapprom.img and then created my own map using the garmin MapInstall program. start>programs>garmin>mapinstall

You need to register your product first on www.garmin.com. The product code needed is located behind your sat nav on the barcode sticker. Once you are asked to enter this on new maps or updates etc, it will tell you if any are available. Most you have to but.
