Please find the link to your pdf manual of the H4.

Please refer to the sections on the recording, setting the tracks and setting the input sensivity/recordingg levels in quick guide page 14.
Also please go through the guide 2 - preparation for recording.
Once this is set your recordings will come out better . So do the trials and reset.

Your best bet is to get a "midi to usb" cable. is use the M Audio Uno and have had no problems, then it will record as midi, so you can edit the hits later if needed.

Zoom H4 Battery Problem
I am having the same problem with my Zoom-H2. I have 2 2650 mah rechargeables, and the draw is such that 20-30 minutes of record &/or playback kills the batteries. Last night I just turned the power on and did nothing. 5 hours later the batteries were dead...

No recording?
The static after several seconds seems like this is a problem with certain versions of OS X. You might be able to fix it by downgrading or upgrading. Apple Forums say that it's fixed in 10.5.6.

You can double check that this is the problem by trying it on a Windows computer.

Lexicon lambda no sound during playback
AFTER you open a new poject go to "Devices" then "Device Setup" click on "VST Audio System" then on he right side where it says "ASIO DRIVER" make the selection say "Lambda ASIO" then click OK

Creates a file but no playback, nothing on vue meter
Go to the music store where you bought this thing, or go to any music store that sells this product, and ask the young boy (I guess it'll be a young boy) to help you out with this. Difficult to now what's the problem without messing up with the buttons.
