This is usually a driver problem. If it worked previously and just stopped, then go int the device manager, uninstall the drivers and reboot. The machine will find and reinstall them. If this is a system repair/reload or if it's never worked, then you will need to download the drivers from Dell's support site. Make sure you have the proper driver. Some Dell machines will accept a driver for the network controller and show that it's working, even though it's not, ie... a Broadcom driver with an Intel card or vice versus. If this is the case, then you will need to get the model of the wireless card and search for the drivers. You can also use driverguide.com.If this doesn't correct the problem give me more info on what's going on and what you've done and we'll go from there.

What is network adapter mean

A network adaptor is an interface device that allows your PC to communicate with other computers and the internet. There are wireless and wired adaptors.

Wireless adaptors usually connect your PC to the network through a wireless router and modem. Wired adaptors (also known as ethernet adaptors) connect your PC to another computer, a router or a modem using a cable.

I?m unable to detect any wireless networks, because the WLAN adaptor hasn?t yet been activated. There is a specific ?hotkey? (function+F1) to enable the WLAN adaptor but the keyboard doesn't work anymore...

Hello shge2dope,

The wireless lan can be activated (enabled) from the control panel as follows:

•Click Start (lower left-hand of screen)
•Select Control Panel
•Select Network and sharing Center (might be called just 'Network')
•Select the wireless lan adapter and enable it

* Another way might be to select the WLAN icon in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. Then right-click and select the option to enable it

If this solution is helpful please click a thumbs-up rating below.

Have a great day,

My wireless adaptor does not work properly

These wireless dongles can take time to conect after pc starts some times they take up to 3 minutes to configure. What you could try doing is changing the brodcast type on the main modem and reconfiguring the dongle on the other pc to conect might work out faster for conection and better.

Unable to access internet through local area network.

hello
in this case first you need to check the ip address by goin on start- run - type cmd -- then type ipconfig , if its giving you a valid ip address then try to access internet and select the option that says automatically detect settings and you will find that option under -- open internet explorer then go to tools- internet option- connections - lan settings
and
if you are not getting any ip address then do a right click on my compuetr icon on your desktop adn go to properties-- hardware- device manager-- network adaptors - and uninstall all the adaptors and then do a right click on network adaptors and then scan for hardware changes .

and the third option is to uninstall Internet explorer 8 adn try with IE 6

kindly rate this solution as well

Restore active desktop

As the icons have increased in size that means ur screen resolution has changed

Goto desktop
right click on desktop  >>  Properties  >>  settings tab
now u will find the Screen Resolution adjust it according to ur requirement and u will find ur icon size small again  ( if u increase the screen resolution)

For internet settings Create a New Connection Wizard
or u can check from Network Connection whether ur Local Area Network is Enable or not.

Thank You

I cannot figure how to set up to cable internet

You need a TIVO wireless adaptor or a USB ethernet adaptor to connect to the internet on some models unless your model have an ethernet adaptor attached to it

From your Tivo go into the setting menu and look for network setup. Tivo will connect to the network and download the schedule.

Once you get that hooked up download Tivo Desktop from Tivo.com. There is a free version of the program. Give the software your IP address on the network for your computer if you know it and see if the software detects it on your network.

Internet adaptor

Hi,

This could be three things, first, a hardware fault, which the wireless will need to be replaced,

2) You can go into network connections through control panel and double click the wireless network to re enable.

3) Go to HP website and reinstall the wireless drivers. ( If you need the wireless adapter type, check out device manager in control panel
