Check the solder connections on the audio output ICs and also around the external sound connections often the ground trace will develope a solder crack and will cause a loss of sound.

WHAT DOES IT DO I HAVE NO IDEA HOW DOES IT WORK?

A sound card (also known as an audio card) is an internal Computer expansion card that facilitates economical input and output of audio signals to and from a computer under control of computer programs. The term sound card is also applied to external audio interfaces that use software to generate sound, as opposed to using hardware inside the PC. Typical uses of sound cards include providing the audio component for multimedia applications such as music composition, editing video or audio, presentation, education and entertainment (games) and video projection.
Sound functionality can also be integrated onto the motherboard, using components similar to plug-in cards. The best plug-in cards, which use better and more expensive components, can achieve higher quality than integrated sound. The integrated sound system is often still referred to as a "sound card". Sound processing hardware is also present on modern video cards with HDMI to output sound along with the video using that connector; previously they used a SPDIF connection to the motherboard or sound card.

I hope this helps you.

Acer monitor no signal

If your monitor has various input sources, make sure it's on the correct input source in the main/input menu. If that's not the problem double check the cable for bent pins also make sure if you have a video card with DUAL dvi outputs that your using the correct one.. as the other one might be secondary and non-functional. It's possible but highly unlikely if you unplugged the DVI cable while the monitored was still powered on it could have damaged the video card of the computer or mainboard of the LCD monitor. When in doubt try another DVI cable if all else fails.. if you have another DVI monitor (thats a known good) try that also to make sure that the video card is not the problem.

A compaq sr1000 need to know what no VGA input means. Will no allow my computer to come on

Welcome to FixYa

No VGA input means that the computer is not detecting video input from the video card. Usually you get this message if the video card of your system is not functional, the VGA cable is unplugged or the VGA cable is defective. To try and remedy this problem try these.

Check if you can hear sound coming from the system. If the video card is functioning then you should here the startup audio from windows.

Check the VGA connection on the back of the system. The VGA cable looks like thismalups_6.jpg

Please note that the VGA cable has two screws, make sure that both are fastened correctly

If the VGA cable is plugged in and you cant hear audio coming from the system. Then this would likely be caused by a defective video card on your computer

Hope this helps

Where and how do I hook my iPod to my htr 5440 receiver?

Anything that has a headphone output can be adapted to feed an RCA cable pair for standard stereo to any audio device with a standard RCA input (except PHONO). Get a cable like the one described here:

http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.aspc_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021804&p_id=665&seq=1&format=2

and connect it into any available analog input EXCEPT "Phono". Turn the PC's volume control for the headphone volume up. Of course, if you have a sound card with the usual green front speaker outputs that would work, too.

Harmon Kardon AVR 235 no sound

Ensure that your speakers are connected to the terminals that you have your speaker selector switch turned to.
Then check that you have your device, whether it be a CD or DVD player, or turntable, plugged into the correct input and that you also have the correct input selected on the receiver.

Can not access menu or input functions

Hi rduncan27,
I will be happy to help. 88% of LCD tv problems are with the backlight, the symptoms you described indicate a probable inverter malfunction. Lets do a simple test to check the functionality.
  1. Get the tv to a point that it is producing sound.
  2. Take a flashlight and shine it on the screen.
  3. Look very closely for a dark video image.
Let me know your findings and we can proceed from there.

Piano/keyboard won't work through imac

Try to connect to other input lines. If your computer has an input line except for mic input try to connect to it. Then configure the settings in your computer, go to the CONTROL PANEL on your computer click SOUNDS & AUDIO DEVICES then configure SOUNDS or AUDIO or VOLUME or VOICE. Then look for the device listed in your system that is available and compatible, then select the most appropriate. After that click APPLY then OK. There you go.

If this solution Doesn't work you must buy a sound card and for sure it will work. Having a sound card gives you several input lines and there is a particular input line for musical instrument like a keyboard in a sound card device. Installing a sound card is easy, and i'll show you. First you must insert your sound card device into your motherboard's PCI slot (most of the motherboards have 3 PCI slots) choose one and take note that your PCI sound card plugs in exactly in that slot so its very easy. After inserting your sound card install the driver for your sound card, install is easy just follow instruction. If you have done this, there you go.
Good Luck!
Pls. rate me if this helps.
