The VAIO model vgntx1hp must have a VGA port on it, you can connect the TV to the 15pin VGA port. press the Fn+F7 keys on the VAIO to toggle the displays between the external TV and the VAIO screen.

There is an issue with the vga port on 2006 - 2007 sony vaio laptops. It doesn't push enough power to samsung lcds. There are all sorts of complicated solutions suggested by all sorts of people. Don't waste your time. Get yourself a connection cable with gold contacts and you'll be straight. It costs approx. $33.99. I got this one and it works fine (and I have a weak-*** TZ):
