It shouldnt run for that long if it is sized right for the room in the first place. Does it not come back on after it runs for 30 to 40 mins?
sounds as though it is not the correct size for the room to me

Heat pump compressor wont come on in heat mode, works fine in cool mode, we get heat occaisionally for about 2 min, then the compressor shuts off. it is a fridgedaire window unit.

Try setting the thermostat at a normal heat setting. By raising the temperature too high the unit thinks that the heat pump won't be effective and go into strip heat mode.

Bryant heat pump with aux.heat,no blower, outside unit cycles for approx 3 min then shuts down and will repeat cycle in 3-4 min.at no time will blower come on,tried setting fan to manual but no blower.

Chances are you have a bad capacitor or a bad fan motor, maybe a bad thermostat or thermostat connection. Your best bet without knowing what your doing would be to replace the capacitor( it is the part attached to the fan, bottom door, two wires coming out of it, silver). Even this requires some electrical know how. Turn off the power before you touch anything electrical. If that doesn't work then you should definitely call someone. Also a capacitor may be hard for you to buy in person without an account.
Good luck Hope this helps

Bad fan motor I suspect The windings are bad causing the motor to over heat sending the motor into thermal overload. would suggest the replacement of motor. Good Luck on repairs

My Air Conditioner does not get cold after I turned it off and turned it back on. I have now turned the themostat off about 20 mins ago

Air conditioners need a few mins to stabilize (the fluid in the lines) after they are shut off in the middle of operation. The comperssor will normally time out for several mins after it shuts off (or you shut it ofF) preventing it from coming back on within that time. So if you turn it off, and then right back on, you can expect warm air for several mins untill it times out.

Coleman tsr mach 3 RV Air Conditioner

the fan motor bearings need lub....the shaft has a tiny access hole to put some oil into. because the fan shaft is slowing down, it is putting more strain on the voltage current, and eventually the internal breaker shuts down the ac........plus your condenser is not getting enough air accross it, compressor heats up, and it too will shut the unit down......older units have to be oiled every year, and eventually it too will fail, and a new blower motor assembly is needed or replace the ac unit.....blower motor units are around $130....now you install it or pay to have it done at around another $150 labor,,,,,try yourself, if it fails then call the tech........let me know [email protected]
