Question about Whirlpool AWM5125/1 Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Hi. I've just been loaned a Whirlpool awm 5125/4 washing machine (while mines gone for repair), but it has on the back of the machine, a hot inlet and a cold inlet. My machine only requires a cold water feed. Does my loaned Whirlpool require a hot water supply to work, or can i fit both hot and cold pipes with a T-piece to the cold water supply? Very many thanks, Pedro.

Hi,

Your machine can be connected for cold fill only but, you will need to connect a "Y-Piece" for it to work:

The tail of the "Y" attaches to the cold water valve on your pipework. You then attach both hot and cold water hoses to the branches of the "Y" and connect both hot and cold water hoses to your washing machine. The wash cycles will take longer when connected this way as the machine has to heat the water internally. It will also be less energy effecient.

Please post back if you need further assistance.

Whirlpool awm 8103/s keeps stopping during cycle with code FH displayed? any suggestions

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Whirlpool's 'FH' stands for 'no water inlet' (but goodness knows how 'FH' could mean that!)

If you have checked that the hot and cold water taps are turned on fully and the hoses are not kinked or squashed at the back, it is worth while checking both the hot and cold water inlet filters. Turn the taps off and remove both hoses at the washer end. Inside each inlet port there is normally a little filter which should just slide out. Clean if necessary and replace each one and the hoses. If after turning the taps back on there is no improvement, the problem is symptomatic of a malfunctioning hot or cold water control valve. Sorry but it needs a service call and a check that it isn't the control PCB ;-0(

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck,
John C

I am trying to locate the brushes in my whirlpool awm 5125 washer i have taken the top off but cant locate them

the brushes are on the motor which is located at the rear of the machine sitting just under the wash unit.

You will need a 10mm spanner to remove the bolts holding the motor on. unclip the wiring to the motor and remove.

the carbon brushes are located on the rear of the motor - one on each side of the commutator,

you will need a philips screw driver to remove the brushes
