The Dell website says your model comes with 2 usb ports in from and 5 in the rear, all of which are usb 2.0. If this is happening with just this one device then there might be a problem with the device not your PC. Try plugging it into one of the other ports and try a different device. If you get the message on all of the ports and with all divices then the USB driver may have been corrupted go to the Dell website and look for updated/new drivers, there is probably a direct link to dell on the start menu. If you have the resource disks for the computer one of them is probably labled as having the device drivers on them. Put that disk into your drive then from the start menu open control panel, double click on system and go to the hardware tab. Open the Divice Manager. At the bottom of the list expand the Universal Serial Bus Controlers. Right click any of the USB Root Hub entries and select update driver, follow the instructions on the wizard that opens. Good Luck
