Is your dishwasher hard wired into the house power system ... or plugged into a wall outlet under the kitchen sink?
You mentioned you turned off the power ... how? via the circuit breaker or disconnecting it from the wall? If your unit is plugged into an outlet (and you depowered by cutting the breaker) ... I would check the cord and outlet .. it might be as simple as that.
If that is not the problem ... trying a reset.
Below is a generic one for Whirpools which may work on your model
To reset it, you will have to have the door open. It can not be latched. Press "Heated Dry," "Normal," "Heated Dry," "Normal" within three seconds of the first pressed button. Now close the door, this should reset your dishwasher.

Sounds like your control panel has failed, and as to why, well things work and then they don't, simple and as plain as that.

If it fills with cold water, it will pause and try to heat the water... if there is no heater function, it will never achieve wash temperature.
To invoke the Diagnostics Cycle, perform the following while in standby:
? Press any 3 keys in the sequence 1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3 with no more than 1 second between key presses.

Check the breaker and make sure it has not tripped. You should also check the GFCI in the kitchen area too.

If its the ormal led flashing that is normally caused by a stuck key ing the key pad. Might try unplugging and plugging back in but sounds like you need a new touchpad.

I would make sure that the lever on the dishwasher body is not bent in any way. If it is you can straighten it out and then make sure the door close's properly. But for being 3 months old I would give whirlpool a call and have them send a repairman out. There will be no charge to you seeing its under there warrenty.
