Most modern mouses, do not need to install a driver. So it might very be very well caused mis installation of usb ports. Check if any usb hubs are having any issues. Do it by checking My Computer -> Device Manager window.

i would restore the notebook to factory settings -- this is the best option in getting the computer back to the way it worked originally going to the factory settings management portion in the system and or use your recovery CDs to format and re isntall everything
Here’s the worst case scenario. The CMOS battery is hidden under the
laptop cover. In order to access and replace the battery you’ll have to
